i bought a saitek cyborg evo wireless. lot of people are getting either the saitek or the logitech extreme 3d pro since they are cheap enough to enjoy and not really putting a dent in your pocket.

i havnt heard anything bad about the saitek cyborg evo, but i heard the logitech extreme doesnt track straight after awhile? i dunno how long, but thats the reason i got a saitek. i also like how my joystick looks over the logitech, with the light and button placement. also it's fully adjustable.

works good and flying a jet is a breeze now.

Ok, ive looked at both and the saitek ones looks gd except i cant stand wireless things. Give me a cable any day, never run outta battery there. Also yea i read a few things about the logitechs durability and it not staying straight after a few months.

So any other joysticks from anyone?

I tried using a joystick to fly in the original BF 1942, and DC mod. I think it's actually harder with the joystick than the keyboard/mouse combo. You just need to practice...and you'll become better.

The helicopter is easy to fly, but the planes are just impossible.

In BF 1942 the planes were easy to fly, but ever since jet power was discovered, the effectiveness of the planes has dropped significantly.

I've had my Extreme3d for about 1.5 years now, no complaints about 'not tracking straight' or anything. I think people who have problems with it don't understand how to use the setup software, because I can't imagine a minor problem like this that could not be corrected in the setup software.

i like to never have to use the software to correct tracking issue. maybe thats asking to much. also failure rate may depend on how much someone actually uses their joystick. i know i go through mouses every 1-2 years, but probably due to poor design or overuse.

The software offers other benefits in that you can optimize the sensitivity in each axis independently, dead zone, different sensitivities for different games, etc... You'd be pretty negligent (or arrogant) not to use the Logitech software if you have it. It only improves the abilities of the stick. Fixing an issue like drifting is as simple as bumping the dead zone another 5%, though I haven't needed to change the dead zone since my initial setup.

As for usage, mine saw heavy usage when I was playing BF1942 and BFV regularly, then a 6 month vacation or so, and now is starting to see use again. It still seems to be in great shape.

I don't know how it got the 'rep' of the issue, but my stick is fine, and has proven pretty durable. I know others who have one, though their usage is not as high as mine, and theris are fine too.

When I bought mine (about 18 months ago) I had heard the same statements from people who had 'heard' there were issues. I'm thinking a very small number of sticks are affected, and those could easily be corrected by spending 5 minutes in the software setup. You can set the dead zone to ANY $30 stick to 0% and it won't be perfect. You simply don't get perfect for $30. That's what the dead zone is for. As long as you don't have to set the dead zone to something extreme like 50%, there's no real problem with adjusting the dead zone in the software.

Just bought the Saitek Cyborg Evo(non-cordless) for $49.99 CDN +taxes) and it's great. Just note that it won't make you a great Pilot in BF2 all by itself, especially for the choppers. Practice some offline to get the hang of it.

I bought the wired version of that. Im getting used to flying a jet with keyboard/mouse combo, putting the sensitivity for sircraft up to 7 really does help. I killed 3 tanks and some buggy by suiciding into them Also killed a chopper on my own team through the same method.

I have the wired one too, I just kinda stated it awkardly.

You're doing better than me. I can fly no problem, Chopper or Jet, but I can't actually hit anything intentionally on the ground. Ah well, more practice.
