BF2 problem

I've been playing and having no problems for a few weeks, then tonight when trying to start the game I get this;

Application popup: BF2.exe - Application Error : The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application.
Which when I look at windows event viewer tells me this.

have you tried re-installing BF2? It's probably what I would try if a reboot didn't fix it.

I was hoping to avoid that.

I just don't understand why it worked fine for several weeks then suddenly went tits up.

exactly, which is why if I encounter a problem with an error such as a corrupted file, i would try re-installing. It's probably a lot easier than trying to figure out EA's mess

Edit: It's DAMN fun though !

Sorry I didn't get back to this.

I went a couple days dreading the idea of uninstaling and reinstalling. Then just out of curiosity I tried to run it and it worked just fine, and it's worked just fine since then.
