I might upgrade to a 7800GTX right now, I am not that impressed. I don't think it's worthwhile to upgrade over this one game.

Anyone have any proof this game does use more than 1GB Ram?

I haven't played much with the settings.

I set it to 1280x960, all high 4xAA and it seems to run better than BFV.

A64 3200+ Winnie @ 2Ghz (Stock)
1024MB Corsair ValueSelect RAM
ASUS N6600GT PCIe 128MB

I run at 1024x768 (my monitor displays weird vertical "off-and-on" lines on 1280x960), with Medium detail on everything and 4xAA. Dynamic shadows on (I think).
Full draw distance (which according to me is still too near).

Runs fine. Will up all settings to High and, if necessary, turn down until smooth.

At what resolution are you playing BF2? 1280x1024
What level of eye candy (Low, Medium, High)? Everything high except textures (medium, runs awful at high no matter what)
What level of FSAA? 4x

What videocard do you use? 6600GT
What CPU? Winchester 3000+ @ 2.5GHz
How much RAM do you have? 1GB

Are you pleased with how smooth your game play is? I guess, but it randomly stutters for no reason (i.e. if I'm driving with no one near me)
If not, what needs to be improved? (Hardware upgrade, game patch, new drivers?) Looks like the 6600GT can handle BF2 pretty easily, at least with the included drivers (77.30). I think the game mainly needs to be patched.

1024x768@85Hz
Medium to high
9800 Pro
2XAA
1GB ram

Runs like a charm for me. Both single and multiplayer.

I play at 1680x1050.
All high settings except textures at medium. It runs fine on high, it just take a round to load the entire map into memory, which introduces very inopportune loading and stuttering while I'm fighting. After a round, it runs great. On medium, everything is able to load from the get-go, and I have absolutely no issues with stuttering when I first start up the game now. I cannot tell a difference in texture quality while fighting, so I leave it at medium.
Playing with a 6800GT on an A64 3200+.
Driver settings are forcing 8xAF.
Software settings are set to 2xAA.
1GB of PC3200.

Runs great with 99% hitch-free action. Only 1% trouble comes from missles and explosions near my position, when it blurs the screen and messes with the sound. The frame rate does chug momentarily while this is going on, but is quickly over. I haven't done an official test, but my guess would be around 45fps 95% of the time.

It runs better than I expected but still pretty bad at 15-25 frames per second.

What level of eye candy (Low, Medium, High)? High (though I see this sets Lights to Medium).
What level of FSAA? None

What videocard do you use? 6800GT with the game's 77.30 drivers
What CPU? Athlon XP (mobile) at 2.3 Ghz.

Are you pleased with how smooth your game play is? This seems to be working pretty well. Benchmarking the single player, I'm averaging around 60 fps (36-90 fps).
If not, what needs to be improved? (Hardware upgrade, game patch, new drivers?) I'm sure I could benefit from moving up from an Athlon XP to an Athlon 64, but I don't feel any urgency to do so.

Radeon 9800 Pro
Athlon 64 2800+
1.5GB of Ram

Runs nice and smooth, could enable AA and get near performance levels

I would say there are a few graphical glitches in the game that a patch needs to take care of.

Make a shortcut of the EXE, then add to the "Targe" this at the end: +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1650 +szy 1080

So, the whole thing would look something like: "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1650 +szy 1080

(Note the space before the +medu 1...etc.)
