BF2 throwing me back out to windows

this started last week after no particular reason.

i can start BF2, retrieve my account and then select the multiplayer server i want to play on. Then, BF2 just stops and i'm back in windows.

I haven't been able to play multiplayer at all. singleplayer works fine.

i'm downloading 1.12 patch, but don't think that's going to help.

i'm about to uninstall/reinstall, but any ideas first?

EDIT: i cannot even uninstall it... add/remove programs doesn't work with it, nor does selecting uninstall from the program list for BF2. wth?

well, i had a similiar problem. after having the comp on for a few days, the game would kick me out bakc to windows.

disable xfire, maybe..

I have the same problem, but it doesnt act up enough to make it a big issue. I just start BF2 all over again.

i does it to me too, but only once in while. i dont know what causes it but havent looked around for a solution either.

Visit EA's website and their support section to find the FAQ or knowledge base articles for BF2. They have one on how to uninstall the game manually, if you can't seem to get the add/remove programs method to work.

For problems that seem to crop up out of nowhere and occur at around the point that you are trying to enter the map, or have just entered the map, I'd suspect punkbuster problems, first. You can check this out by trying to play on a non-punkbuster server. If this works fine, then you should go to the evenbalance website (home of punkbuster) and look at their FAQs, particularly the one on how to manually update your punkbuster files. (I'm assuming that single player works fine.)
