Erroneous. It most certainly is. I've been having a great time with it so far...even on Metro. You have to be very tactical in this game, which is awesome. Using cover, suppressive fire, your teammates(what a concept). Can't wait till the end of the month.

Oh, and the IR scope is badass.

In Quake 1 messagemode was T and messagemode2 was Y.

Have played a fair amount of the demo and been enjoying it quite a bit. I loved BF1942, BF2 and BF:Vietnam (I know, but I loved transporting teammates around in a Huey making hot drops and the like) and, from what I've seen of BF3, think I will also like this iteration of the franchise.

I didn't much care for BF:BC2 and although I certainly recognize the similarities I think, for me at least, it is distinct enough that my dislike of BC:BF2 won't carry over. I definitely had an adjustment period when I first started playing as I realized that rushing headlong into an open area was asking to be killed. The game manages to produce a tension that makes resolution of firefights engaging and rewarding.

I was a big fan of Bf1942 and I still like playing BF2. The demo is very disappointing. The demo does not feel like a BF series game at all. Maybe Metro is just a poor example of the game but so far I don't like it. I am having a hard time spotting the enemy. The enemies are not automatically spotted when you point at them. The scenery has an overall grayish/blue tint and the air has a very strong hazy look which makes spotting the enemy even harder. The translucent mini map is almost impossible to read. I could mention more dislikes but I will stop here.

Maybe the final release will impress me but I am doubtful.

That's pretty much spot on.

After downloading the game yesterday I thought it was pretty good. The players blending into the background isn't as bad as MoH but it is there just a bit with the initial weapons. Once you get a scope they pop out and it isn't an issue anymore for me at least.

FOV was my big issue at first. The jumping over a wall animation got me dizzy and that never happened to me in any other game or movie. Once I changed it to 90 it made a huge difference. It was like I got my peripheral vision back.

First time looking at the flashlights I was like a deer in the headlights.

Overall I like it, just wish there was another map to play.

People say this crap all the time. I'm not falling for it. There might be some stuff held back for the beta, but overall you're going to have nearly the exact same experience at launch on the same map. I've played too many betas to know that nothing significant changes, especially when the launch is so close.

Depends on the company IMO. But since we are talking about DICE and knowing how BC2 launch went, I am suspicions of DICE.

Does anyone know why my screen is cutoff on the sides like that? Like on the lower left/right. That SS is windowed but it happens in windowed mode or fullscreen mode. I have the newest nvidia beta drivers and I cannot find anything at all online about this. It's using 2560x1600.

i'm guessing cuz you need to do alt+enter for full screen instead of using maximize button on the window.

Not sure, did you try to change your FOV? It looks like it has the zoom in look as the normal 70 FOV setting.


Now my of my own personal feedback. It seems that I am unlocking things but cannot use them at all. I got a scope but I cannot see it on anything I should be able to attach it too. Also when I got a new weapon for recon my old weapon disappeared from the menu.

Ahh, so you are one of the guys I get to pick off with my IRNV scope

Actually what amazes me is how many people (especially in video commentaries played by newbs) do not use the select fire. If you are firing at range, USE SEMI AUTO. If you are close quarters, then use full auto, preferably with the laser. And if outdoors, TURN OFF THE FLASHLIGHT/LASER. Unless you LIKE being seen from miles away.

Alt-enter never even works for me. The only way I can go full screen is if I do it in the options.

My video options also seem to reset every time I join a new game. :thumbsdown:

I haven't played a competitive shooter since BF2 (just L4D really)., so I was sucking at first but now I'm getting back in the groove and really liking it. The graphics are quite good and everything seems to run very smoothly on my gtx580.

My only complaint is there are no vehicles in this map and the game seems to minimize/crash a lot. The browser-based server finder actually works pretty well since it loads the game quickly with no intro movies or crap.

I wasn't planning on buying this game originally but after getting hooked on the beta I decided to pre-order it.

Yeah you can change it but you have to use the program notepad++.

Are you on the 285 beta drivers? On the 280 driver I had the same issue with continuous crashes after about 5 minutes of game play. Once I switched to the beta drivers it stopped completely and I haven't had a crash since.

i have beta 285 drivers and i get the same minimize and crash problem here and there.

What is with all the complains on how people play the game?
It is WAR, stay alive and kill the enemy.

What do you want, every one line up in the open and let you execute them?
Or how about they all highlight and glow like the Deus Ex HR?
