I'll never understand hackers, unless there's money behind it (and note that I'm saying understand, no agreeing). I do know that some hackers "hack" (creators/authors of hacks I mean, not the users per se) because they are actually PAID to hack 'x' software or game, so they do it since there's money to be had if they do it, not because they actually "like to do it just because they can".

Although some do it just because they can and those are the ones I don't understand. I especially don't get why someone would BUY a game legitimately only to use a hack later in its multi-player mode. If you want to or care to "hack" or cheat in off-line games or modes, go ahead, no one gives a damn... but why in multi-player? Is it really ONLY because they would really, really suck otherwise? For all we know, the people using hacks (not the ones creating them, I'm talking about the ones USING them) might actually be good legitimate players if they cared to try playing legitimately.

Anyway, I'll never get the whole scheme of things regarding hacks and cheating in on-line games. The whole mentality behind it is beyond me. I can "understand" the reasoning behind... say... cracking something like Windows because you're too poor to buy it. I don't agree with it, but I understand the reason behind it (money). But I just can't understand the reason(s) behind going on-line in a game and holding a 100% perfect aim on some random Joe's toon's head to get 1-hit kills all the time only to get bored of it after 'x' time. What do someone get FROM doing that? Do they save money? Time? Is it really JUST for virtual "pride"? I just don't get it.

If there's ANY "advantage" coming from that specific case that the guy talks about in that post, is that he himself used the hack to specifically kill another hacker (not at first as he said but eventually he went full hunting mode on that other hacker). Now if all hackers could only kill other hackers on-line we might be on to something. I wouldn't give a rat's ass if a hacker would KNOWN that I'm not hacking and would therefor AVOID me exactly because I'm legitimate. That would mean that hackers would start developing a certain sense of honor out of their misery. I think I'm starting have delusions now.

People take this shit way too seriously. LOL!

Do you pay a monthly fee for BF3? No? Then deal with the hacks. It's a "best-effort" service. You want premium? Pay for it.

Or don't take it so seriously and just go to a different server.

partial solution: make sniper most useless class, which is what Valve has done in TF2. And plus it is obvious if sniper has too many kills.

I hate hack where hacker sees through the wall, that one is not obvious.

Hacking MP games is like working 9-5 job when you are billionaire : pointless

nice read OP. what concerns me more is the DRM that EA will come up to try and combat this shit and inevitably invade our privacy. this ain't going to end well...

I played a round yesterday and saw a guy going at 20-0 running around. I feel like I am pretty good at the game and on a good game get about a 2-1.3/1 k/d ratio. It seems like they should just enforce something like if the k/d ratio is too high and bullets fired is really low they should investigate that player or something.

Kindof makes me wonder is this is part of the reason EA will let you buy the guns pack. Seems like a better solution to hacking and if they are doing it just to unlock the better equipment.

At least someone finally F-in admits it. I think his estimations are a bit low honestly.

What a stupid reply.

Having to repeatedly hop from one server to another because of hackers interferes with the overall enjoyment of the game.

I used to play football after work. Everyone played by the rules and fun was had by everyone. If players start cheating and acting like twats then it reduces the enjoyment and people lose the incentive to continue playing.

Whilst finding other people is an option it just adds to the hassle.

No surprise here. Hacking is rampant in online PC FPS games and no game pub seems to care or perhaps they are just not capable of stopping it.

I've always wondered if a truly draconion anti-cheat on your computer that amounted to close to a trojan in its ability to monitor your PC could stop/detect hacking. I for one, if it was capable, would be fine with it if it would eliminate all the cheaters in online FPS games.

I do pretty well in BF3 with a 2:1 KD/r and 630 skill rating, but always wonder how much better it would be if there were no hackers.

So happy I quit playing BF3. I played BF2 very competitively......compared to BF2, BF3 is a joke.

Interesting. I don't get people who use hacks either, especially when you have to subscribe to it. How is that fun? Why would you want to pay money to take out the reason to play the game (competition)?

I wonder where BF3 ranks in the grand scheme of things game-wise with # of active hackers. There's always some in every game but some games don't attract as many.

20-0 is easy. I do that all the time, as long as I'm in a decent squad with a couple other medics. You did know you don't get a death when you get revived, right?

Yeah 20-0 isn't that big of a deal. It's when you see people that are 70-3 is when you have to start to wonder.

It is a big deal when a what would be a 10-10 player gets to 20-0 with conservative hacking. It doesn't matter if you can match their numbers without hacks. People seem to only care about hackers when they get outshone by them, the problem goes beyond that.

Whats sad is that DICE and PB haven't created fixes for it. Whats stopping the devs from paying for the hack and monitoring how it works so they can protect against it?

Oh wait, they're too busy working on DLC... =/

I'm just saying you can start kicking/banning people for going 20-0

Too be honest I gave up on FPS online shooters a number of years ago. Being 35 I remember when we really didn't have any type of software to block hackers other than the "kick player" option. To this day I have no idea why someone would cheat in an online FPS game. If those who hack don't like challenges then perhaps they need a new hobby, and the ones who think that hacking is a challenge are even more pathetic.
