"Anyone know what kind of improvement I'd see from a GF4 Ti9600?
A 6800GT will be probably >4x faster than any GF4. (The 5800U/9700P gen was 2x faster than a 4600 with AA+AF, and the 6800GT gen is 2x faster than the 5800U/9700P one.) But, judging by your video card, you probably don't have a CPU fast enough to let a GT fully stretch its legs. I think a 2.4GHz/2500+ CPU will be sufficient to feed a GT, though, and you can always move the GT into a new MB when you upgrade to an Athlon 64. "
Thanks Pete, Wow 4x faster.. that sounds like a worthy improvement. My Ti9600 equivalent is running on an almost 3000+ equivalent overclocked AthlonXP on 1 GB low latency ram so the rest of my system is ready for a new card. It's just the money variable that remains. Thanks a lot for the speed comparison.
