BFG = 24/7 lifetime support, great OC'ing ability, good extras......
the last time i was in the hunt for a video card was about 1 1/2 years ago. i don't ever recall seeing anything made by BFG back then. i've seen the name here and there since then, but was not really interested who they were since i didn't want a video card.

i've got an Antec Truepower 430 with just the basic components installed in my system. do you guys think my PSU can handle this card? this will be the last card i install in my box. it's starting to get a little long in the tooth so i'm not ready to buy a PSU for a video card. the next parts i buy will be for a major upgrade.

so, can the psu handle this video card with the following stuff installed?
P4 2.4ghz@3.0 ghz.
1gb Mushkin ram
Lite-On CD burner
floppy drive
Audigy2 ZS
Maxtor 8mb 7200 rpm HD
4 case fans

Um... maybe... I've heard that the 6800NU works just fine with that kind of specs, but I don't know about the GT...

Your PSU should handle the card just fine.

Remember the "old" Visiontek? They used to produce nVidia based cards a few years ago. They ran into financial trouble and were bought out. The new owners kept the Visiontek name but switched to ATI based video cards. Some of the former employees started a new business producing nVidia based cards that catered to gamers. That company is BFG. They have earned a good reputation in the short time they have been around.

BFG has great tech support and awsome warranty.
The only spot they should do better in is having a better package. I don't have a video cable so...

For those who don't know, I suspect the name "BFG" was taken from a Quake II weapon known as the BFG, or Big F---in' Gun. The company's founders probably thought it was a cool name for a gaming graphics card company, and it is. That's my theory.

That was originally from Doom. But you're too young to know that, whippersnapper.

EDIT: I swear to god I didn't see your name was whippersnapper! I just said that all by myself. Then I look up, and BAM, your name is whippersnapper. What are the freakin' odds?!!?! :Q :Q :Q

Since I missed out on the deal, I actually ended up buying the same card from Chumbo.com. Since I would have had to pay tax and shipping at Outpost it would have come out to around $380. From Chumbo, it was $399 out the door with free 2nd day FedEx. Not too too bad if you really wanted this card like I did and were late to the game....

Is it the newer one with the copper heatsink and LED's?

Not sure yet. I can tell you tomorrow... How would I find out before actually have it it my hands? Is there a way to tell? What's the benefit of the LEDs?

The card can be found here:

BFG 6800GT OC

It looks like they also have a bundle pack with Doom3 and a 500+ Watt power supply for $40 more. Not sure on the shipping charges for that one though.

I don't think you can find out until you open the box. I don't think there's any difference between the new heatsink and the old one. It's probably just cosmetically enhanced. BTW, thanks for the link. I just placed an order for it and selected overnight shipping for $5. Hopefully I'll get it by tomorrow.

I have the same Antec True Power 430 watt PSU
I also have
-4x 80mm fans
-2x Antec 92mm fans
-2x Blue Cathode Ray Tubes
-Thermaltake Venus 12
-BFG 6800GT overclocked to 6800U
-Artic Silencer NV5 HSF for the 6800GT
-1x 80 gig Seagate SATA harddrive
-1x 8x DVD-RW\+RW Burner
-Athlon 64 3200
-Asus K8V Deluxe MB...
-USB Logitech Webcam

I have all of that running on the good ole True Power 430... I would say I have load... and it handles it well. Without a problem.

Well, I did get in on this deal, believe it or not. I was't sure because I never received an email, but I had them send it overnight and it showed up yesterday morning. This is so cool. I've already installed an NVSilencer w/ ceramique and this baby flies. I forgot to mention for those you that don't know BFG overclocks their cards also, so this is 370 out the box. Last night I played WoW with all the settings turned up, cool.

Unfortunately I'm probably going to have to sell the card as I'm short on funds due to car troubles. But who cares, the core never goes above 62. Right now I'm just running at default. BFG is the best.

I actually ordered the morning of the 16th and mine came in today (still have to go pick it up). When I called in to ask a question about it they said it sells out very fast and they get orders in of it every week, so have no fear, they are getting more soon!
