What are you using for a sound card? And what drivers are you using for that? Can you list in detail every component in your system? I hate to say you have a bunk card because I honestly don't think that's the case. Have you ran Prime95 with your system? If not, run it overnight and then the next day. If you come up wtih errors..that could be the problem.

Molex is connected, yes. Sound Card is an Audigy 2 ZS with the latest Driver Update (Jul 04)

Other than what's listed in my sig for Hardware, I have a WD 120 gig 8mb buffer HD and a WD 40gig, both 7200 RPM. I have Prime95 going right now - i'll run it over night.

As a reference, on my Dell 400SC 2.8GHz, !GB Ram, w/ a 9700NP, I got about 4500 on 3dMark03, w/ my BFG 6800oc NU, I got a little over 10,000. I never had a problem playing the game. You've gotten something else wrong, it's not the card. GP

53C idle sounds hot. Maybe the P4's thermal throttling is kicking in? I remember reading an article recently that mentioned an app that can actually tell you if throttling is kicking in, but I can't remember the site or the app. Maybe someone here will?

I'd also try disabling Hyper Threading, if it's possible. What other apps are you running?

Does lowering any video settings help, like texture or shadow quality?

53C idle is not hot for a graphics card core. GPU's are known to handle thermals better than CPU's. 53C in a CPU core is starting to get hot. With a video card, I would start getting worried at 80-90C load. My $0.02

The CPU runs at about 46C under load such as playing games. I was referring to the temperature for my 6800nu.

I also ran Prime95 for 15 hours without a hitch.

One thing I forgot to mention was last month I had a full hardware diagnostic burn-in done on my machine after it was damaged in a shipping incident and everything was running on par, however this was before I bought the 6800nu. Perhaps this may put things in a better light.

This is what my AGP settings look like. I noticed the OS is at 2x. Is there anyway I can change this? I am using the VXG 71.20b drivers.

Try turning off fast writes..see if you can get a boost there. To change your AGP to 8x..i'm assuming you're using Riva. Go into riva and go into you low level settings. The tab next to the NVstrap drivers is the AGP settings. From there you should be able to change it to 8x

Everything is set to 8x, Fast-writes Off. However, in that image I posted the OS was set to 2x, so I was just curious as to whether or not that was the problem. I don't think anything in my machine in the bottleneck seeing as I had a full diagnostic test done when my computer was damaged, and nothing appeared out of the ordinary. Mind you, the 6800 was installed after this test was done which makes me think it is the bottleneck and I am assuming it can be fixed.

If I can't find a resolve I will probably send it to BFG and see what they say.

I finally called BFG Tech and told them my problem. The tech was a bit frustrated that I wouldn't accept that any of my other components were the bottleneck due to the fact they all run fine and are up-to-date with drivers. I get better performance with a 9800 Pro than a 6800 OC stock/unlocked. Something's wrong there. I got an RMA number and this afternoon just shipped my card out. Hopefully they find something wrong with that card because it was expensive to ship.

Thanks for your help everyone.

i m using the new 75.90 drivers and my 3dmark scores haf improved by like 100-200 marks ....biggest improvement was 2001 ...i always hit mid 19's for some reason, after the new drivers i got a mid 20.

My fps for stress test on a stock speed 6800 OC at 1024 768, 4x 8x everything on high vsync off is 110!

98 on 800 by 600 is def. a little low...prob really something wrong with the card...hope bfg would solve this for u...best of luck

i'm sure this will sound silly... but are you running windows xp or 98? my roommate is scoring close to 5k on his machine with 98, while i'm running xp pro and getting nearly double his score... with the only difference between our machines being that i have daul channel ram and a 90nm athlon64 (both 3000)

My 6800GT has the same effects. Sometimes it will run like a champ. Like in office for example, inside it usually runs above 80fps everywhere (1280x1024, 2xQ FSAA 8x AF, high quality CS:S settings). But outside it dips down into the 30s at times.

It's just an issue with the game itself, nothing you can do but hope Valve fixes it in a patch.

I sent my card in for an RMA, just incase. It was running sluggishly in a lot of things.

that seems like the best idea. if nothing else, you could buy a 6600gt... and save some $$$ for the upgrade to an athlon64 and the next line after the x800's and 6800's

We'll see what happens with my RMA. I can't really afford to upgrade right now, and i'd like to see how CPUs/Mobo's are in the fall in terms of selection and pricing. I am however going to upgrade my ram to some high quality dual channel. I'm currently running 1gb Hynix DDR 400 Dual Channel (3-4-4-8) and I think it may be a bit of a bottleneck, considering I have a Northwood o/c'ed. I will definately be going AMD in the future as I basically just play games and do documents.

I purchased a Gigabyte 6800 card and it sucked in Far Cry as well. I sent it back and got an Ati X800XL - runs great! I had to eat $40 in restock fees but I regretted that 6800 card so much. It scored pretty well in 3DMark03 - 9000 or so.
