BFG 6800GT OC $349 @ Outpost.Com

Outpost.com is selling the retail BFG 6800GT OC card for $349 as of right now. It's also in stock. As of last night it was listed at $399, but would be reduced to $349 when added to the cart.

As of this am, when you view the card prior to putting it in your shopping cart its just listed at $349. 2 day shipping worked out to be about $9 (ground is $7 and some change). Also, no sales tax, unless you have a FRY'S in your state.

This is a pretty sweet deal if you ask me, for a very well rated card.

Yeah, the deal becomes less hot with sales tax if you have a FRY's in your state, but, on the bright side, your price w/tax is about what it would have cost to get the Gainward from Monarch from the thread a week or two ago, and this is for the BFG OC, not a gamble about wether or not you would get a Golden Sample.

Plus, considering the 6600GT's scores, the 6800GT may not seem to be such a great deal very shortly...especially if SLI is all it's cracked up to be.

The chipset supports PCI-E but the interface is AGP so it will not plug into a PCI-E slot. There are a few boards that currently support PCI-E and AGP like the Gigabyte Duo-A (for Intel 775), not enough details to know if any manufacturer will release the same option for AMD 64 motherboards. There is currently no performance difference yet in PCI-E and AGP 8x so if you need a card now the 6800GTs are a good choice.

Too bad I already have a PNY else I would jump on this. The bad side is that CA and some other folks have to pay $27 tax! But it still beats what I paid for my PNY.

Also, does anyone know whether this is the new BFG with the NON-reference HSF? This is important because the non-reference cooler sucks my big toe. It gives people 8-10C higher temp than the reference cooler.

I believe you can put in an order at that price to be shipped when they get a restock. If you want a shot at that price, I would deffinitely put an order in before the price goes back up. You can always cancel it if it goes on backorder for an extended period.

I ordered mine yesterday at 2 pm central time, when it said 'out of stock' but it literally shipped less than 15 minutes later.
