BFG 7900GS Overclock Issues HELP

I've unlocked the additional pipes and had 0 problems in that config at stock speed.

I've set the OC to 590 Core and 1600 Memory and run rthdribl for over an hour with no problems.

When I play BF2 or run 3DMark the card will stop rendering for a second or two and just hang...like its waiting for the rest of the PC, but it's not. Also performance seems reduced rather than improved?

I've tried some lower overclock (580/1560 and 570/1540) and still have lower 3dmark scores than when running at stock speeds!

Whats going on here?
Any Advice?

What temps are you reaching with that overclock? It could be numerous things, but I'm betting that you just need to drop the OC back and find the sweet spot. The best OC is not always the highest one...

I have a 6600gt and I've noticed that some games will work fine when it's heavily overclocked and others will stutter. When I check the temps, they're nowhere near dangerous (I hit 60C max, which is where most X1xx cards idle), it's just that the game doesn't like the OC.

I'm hitting a Max of 63C after an hour of hard gaming or while running rthdribl (My old 6600gt would run at 88C when fully overclocked).

I don't think it's a temp issue because this card seems to run nice and cool. I'm thinking that maybe some sort of ratio between core and memory needs to be maintained?

I'm not sure what your problem is.

When I unlocked my GS, I had to lower my o/c from 585/1600 to 570/1600 to get it stable. I still got higher fps and 3dmark scores, though.

I even did the volt mod to get to 650 core and I still have no issues.

I think maybe the clock was too high. While I had no video artifacts performance was falling. I'll post my best clocks based on 3dMark.

I'm still debating the Volt Mod...Our systems seem pretty similar, What are you scoring in 3dMark06? (If you don't have the bench mark installed don't worry about it)
