Stores around here get in trouble for advertising items that are not actually in stock without offering

I m not so sure anymore if that is MSRP, i heared rumors that the cost to make an 8800 GT maybe more then expected and thats why the prices are higher then expected. Usually if msrp is 250 you expect stores like newegg and others to sell these cards from 200-230 but that didn't happen so far, there has to be a reason and i doubt its a supply and demand thing even though the supply is not as great but even right now i can still find them online to buy.

I would thik that if supply is as short as they say, prices in every part of the chain may be going up. We've had a few brands on backorder for our little local store and prices through distribution for the eVGA KO model (805), for instance, are now $289 or more. I know neweggs margins are slim and they get a little better price than we do but either way, I wouldn't call it gouging.

I also read on the Inquirer that there may have been some sort of manufacturing error on the first run of cards. I'm too lazy to go find the article, but that may explain the sudden shortage, as most stores and our distributors were giving full stock ETA's of 11/08 or thereabouts.

After attending the Toysrus disaster this morning, I headed over to BB and the shelf was already bare.

Good news though is Cusa is running the same special and that store doesn't open till noon. So after heading to CC and getting them to pricematch so 3 for 2 wii games, just have to waity a few more minutes at the Cusa door with only 1 other guy waiting.
