For the folks in WA, I went to the Southcenter BB in Tukwilla, none there. A gal checked the stock and said there is one in Bellingham and one in Yakima.
If you live near those cities, you have a chance...

I got backordered too. I don't think they really had a stock at all - just a week sale.

Score! Just back from BB B&M, did not have it on shelf but a CSR went to the back and got me a card. Used the 12% off coupon, reward zone $20 certificate (set to expire on 12/1) walked out the door for $217.

Received the confirmation by email shortly after.
Just received another email from BB, saying, your item is now BACK ORDERED!
And it'd take 2-3 weeks to fill it.
My 1st order from BB, most likely would be last, crap.

Yup, that's what I was afraid of, appreciate the information though.

I will skip this deal and wait to see what comes down the pipe.

I don't blame BB though, instead I blame NVidia, obviously they are having issues with the production of these models, I mean, the demand can't be THAT strong, hell, I work inside IT and all my "nerdy" friends didn't even know there was an 8800GT until I told them about it.

Oh well, I can wait.

Otherwise will cancel and take my chances with e-retailers on BF or thereafter.

Everyone can have a bad experience. However I know several people who have had positive experiences with BFG when it comes to RMA.

Here's what I posted in the other 8800gt thread:

Last night I checked online all the BBs and none of them close to me had them. So I checked one about an hour away and saw that a store had them available. I didn't buy it then since the price was stil $279, but since I had to get up early this morning for work I checked again and sure enough it was still available and it was $249, so I ended buying it online and picked it up after work.

btw, the store didn't have any more. I'm guessing it was sold out early in the morning.

I walked into the BB in Gaithersburg, MD. They did not appear to have one on the shelf but an employee found one burried behind the 8600GTs. I walked up to the register with a printed out 10% coupon (that didn't list video cards) hoping for the best.

The cashier signed me up for reward zone on the spot so I could get 12% off. I didn't even have to use the printed coupon. Soo... I got it for $230 (after tax) out the door.

yes videopho I hate worst buy...went there at store opening yesterday, none in stock...the a hole manager told me they are not required to carry anything in the ad. WT ???

Then he told me it was a lack of space....uh buddy look at the rack...sticker and an empty hole....floor space...oh they are in the back...nope none in stock..there is a store 60 miles away with one..go there.

And add to cart online but none in stock.you will get a BO

Second one in the door yesterday at BB. No 8800 GTs in stock, but some are supposed to show up Thursday - a day after the sale. Showed one in stock at a store across town, and sales guy tried calling. No one in computer area would pick up (kid got more frustrated than I did). Since I didn't want to waste gas to find the other store OOS, I asked for a rain check. Got home, looked at the form and price says $279. Also got an email confirming rain check, and price is $279. WTF? Why would I need a rain check for full price?

BTW, as I recall, to keep from crossing the legal "Bait and Switch" line, they have to have at least one in stock and state quantities are limited. But then I'm no lawyer.

Regarding the BB BFG 8800 GT "OOS sale"...I pointed out to the CSR that the price was $279 on my raincheck and he wrote in "price should be $249" by hand and then signed his name to it.

Now will that be good enough? Who knows, stay tuned. Why do they issue rainchecks at full price? I can think of a couple reasons, but I don't much care how this plays out. By the time I get notified its "back in stock" I may already own one at a better price.

(that and the fact that my 7900GS plays everything I play now - not great but works)
