Not to mention if there would be a direct fault in the fan (commutatorless) the driver on the videocard would squelch its output. Even failing that, the familiar burning smell would come long before any flames. Fire hazard? Remote chance. Chance of malfunction in use? Absolutely.
Manufacturers have gotten out of hand with all this fancy artwork on video cards. Like I really want to see some anorexic woman with inflated breasts donning a sword on a piece of hardware. (where is the puke icon)
My 3870x2 came from AMD with only an ATi sticker on the fan hub. No other artwork and is very professional looking IMO. That's the way it should be. If you want to see that tacky kid's stuff, pop in your fav anime DVD and go chow!
