...and yes they are pretty quiet. Also, remember if you like shooters and don't already have it outpost.com has it for 199 with Call of Duty (you may have to email BFG to get it like I did). I already had it so I sold it to a coworker for $30 making it 170 for me.

How much slower is this card going to be in UT2K3 & XMP than a Radeon 9800? Tom's VGA charts have it taking a real dive with AA & AF enabled, but that's the only thing reasonably current I've been able to find and I'd like to get some more opinions if possible.

Just to give everybody a heads up, read the terms and conditions at both gameve and enpc. Neither are very consumer friendly. I guess that is why they are so cheap.

I could have sworn that GameVe.com indicated at the VERY TOP of the page for the 5900 NU that their card was a "retail" card and I believe it read like this "BFG GeFORCE FX5900 128MB (Retail)".

Now the "(Retail)" part at the end seems to be missing and the price keeps dropping.

Anyone else notice this at GameVe or maybe I'm incorrect? I didn't notice anywhere else (in the product discription) where it states this is a "retail" board (other than the "Retail Price: $225.99" indicated).

Good point. Can anyone who has ordered verify?

I'm sure this is a retail card. NewEgg now lists the card
here for $175, and it clearly states on NewEgg that it's a "retail" box. (NewEgg is currently OOS on the card). The price seems to keep falling -- there seems to be a mini price war going on if you check the listings on Price Watch. How low will it go? Stay tuned.

I ordered from GameVE on Monday, but they have yet to ship it. I don't think they actually have it in stock, although their web site has said all along that it is in stock. If they don't ship on Thurs. I'll be contacting them to cancel and I'll be writing a review of my experiences.

Apparently...if you buy the full "retail" package BFG 5900 NU, you get the VIVO cable. I actually ordered the one from enpc because they clearly state that it's a retail package. I'm 99% sure that GameVe's web-site listed their BFG 5900 NU as "retail" the other day and NOW I don't see it refered to as "retail".

I've been CLOSELY watching the 5900 NU prices for many of the brands during the last ~2 months and I've seen many changes in the cards and prices to include changes in memory chips (i.e., 1 day just about all the e-stores had XFX 5900 NU cards with 2.2 NS RAM chips then all of a sudden...almost every e-store had cards with 2.8 NS RAM chips). And many of the stores listed incorrect specs regarding the RAM speed.

It's more of a dog eat dog world every day

It is really hard to KNOW exactly what you're getting in PC hardware from an e-store as it seems manufacturers can change the components on their products at the drop of a hat.

I look at it this way...even if the VIVO cable is not included, it's still a great deal on a pretty powerful card with lots of features. The only other 5900 NU I've found with VIVO for a relatively low price was the Albatron for ~$209.00 and that was a couple of weeks ago.

Man...the brands of 5900 NU cards, specs and prices are changing so rapidly it's really hard to keep up. As long as the prices keep dropping it's good for us buyers

I don't recall if it said "retail" before or not on the GameVE site (least ways I couldn't swear under oath that it did), but I'm sure that's what I thought I was going to get when I ordered it. Anyways, the email confirm for my order states it to be a retail product.
Qty SKU Item Amount
1 VC-BFG-002 BFG GeFORCE FX5900 128MB RETAIL
They still are showing the same retail box picture too, but of course I've seen that before where vendors have shipped the OEM product and not the retail product that they picture.

If you look at Newegg image of the 5900nu that's about to come into stock, it shows COD included on the box, and in my experience, what you see is what you get with most of their displayed items. This would definitely make it worth getting over the SE--better performance, and you still get the game and of course, Newegg's hypersonic shipping.

I got my card in today from ENPC. It's a retail box & has the VIVO cable in there.
It DOESN'T have the COD sticker on the outside like the Newegg picture.
I haven't installed it yet,
wish me luck!

I'm in the process of cancelling my order through GameVE. Even though I ordered the card on Monday, they have yet to ship it. I checked the site every day this week and every day it's been listed as "in stock". Methinks they don't tell the truth about that.
Yesterday the card was listed on NewEgg, OOS, w/ ETA 1/21/2004. Today it says OOS, ETA 1/26/2004. NewEgg doesn't bs when it comes to being in stock or not. Much to their credit.

With the VIVO and cable (and NO MIRs), this is a HOT deal. The other cards I've looked at (with VIVO and MAYBE the cable) was an XFX FX5600 Ultra (non-flip chip) for $131.00 or a Ti4800 SE for ~$145.00.

To get a Retail FX5900 NU with VIVO (and cables, etc.) for ~$30 to $40 more than the above choices I was considering is really a good deal.

I couldn't even find any deals on similar performing ATI solutions other than 9600 Pro's (with VIVO) for ~$200 or All-in-wonder boards for over $200.00. This even takes into account that 9600 Pro's, etc. will perform somewhat close to the 5900 NU's under certain situations (e.g., DX 9.0 PS 2.0 in HL2, etc.) and IF nVidia drivers can't solve some performance issues. Plus the 5900 NUs should always beat out 9600's (pro or XT) in todays games and future OpenGL games.
