Look, if you ant price and LESS quality, go 5900. If you like PERFORMANCE, QUALITY, AND EYE CANDY, go ATI.
I told you, I have BOTH... d0y. The 9800 is the BEST performer and shows the BEST eye candy.
If you like jagged edges, go 5900...
What a completely biased and BS post.
OK
HOMER BOY! Biased? I have BOTH cards... So how is THAT biased?
lol.. talk about asinine statements from a fanboy.
i have the 5900nu and the 9700pro; overclocking both, the oc'd 5900 spanks the 9700 pro in almost all areas.
graphics quality? the 9700 imo has a sublte advantange in aa (cat 3.10 vs forceware 53.03), and the 5900 has slightly better texture filtering (while i don't see it when gaming, most reviews state ati's text filtering performs a bit better). overall 3d quality? comparing both running the same time next to each other, you really couldn't tell which pc was running which card.
2d quality? most reviewers give the ati a slight nod in this area, tho they all pretty much say both are excellent. honestly, i would have to scrutinize to tell the difference; they're that comparable.
price? 5900 wins hands down. this is a card for $170 that is running at 5950u/9800xt speeds, for almost $300 less - and it comes with vivo, 24/7 toll free support and a lifetime warranty (and, if you're lucky, a free copy of CoD). now tell me, how is THAT a bad thing?
they're both great cards, and while the ati might have a bit of a performance advantage in ps2 benchies, there is no better value in the $150-170 price range right now. in all honesty, with next-gen cards upcoming in the next few months, spending $450 on a 9800xt/5950u right now is not a very smart way to spend your money - especially when a card for $300 less has 90% of the performance...
edit: btw, the "lifetime" warranty is not like PNY, where once the card is no longer "mainstream", it no longer has a "Life". under bfg's warranty, they will replace it with the next closet "next" gen card, all warranties should be that good.
