BFG GeForce 6800gt OC @ BestBuy.com

I'm in the process of building a new rig and wanted a 6800gt, and was having a hell of a time finding one. I do most of my purchasing through newegg, but they have been out of stock for ever and it doesn't look like they'll be back any time soon. Much to my surprize, though, BestBuy.com is selling these cards at MSRP and seems to have a steady suply of them. The only bite is having to pay sales tax, but in most states that still ends up being cheaper than ordering from one of the few vendors who have these cards in stock, most of whom are charging closer to $500 than $400.

Another note, MonarchComputer.com has OEM 90nm Athlon64 3500+ chips for over $75 less than newegg right now.

you missed out on the micro center sale of the eVGA 6800gt's for $319. I tried getting another one online and it said it's no longer available. I picked my 1st one up from the microcenter in Cambridge, MA. Got the 2nd to last one left.

You can find them in the forsale forums for about $350-$360. You can find other brands for $379 (new) with shipping.

rmathney - you were one of those evil people who got the last two >.<. i went by around 7PM, and they were all sold out. oh well. i heard that they might get more in on friday or saturday, so give them a call if you're physically able to get to the store and pick one up.

I got the last one after being told 2 in stock, putting one on hold, driving there, being told no more in stock, arguing with punk kid, speaking to manager, and them figuring out they were holding a card for someone who already came and picked it up.

Best Buy snail-mailed out 10% off coupons good Jan 7th to Jan 10th. That would make it a better deal, if you can find it in stock at BB.

I got there at around 5:30 PM a couple of days ago and was told I got the last one in stock. Not that it matters, but maybe they have a ton of them in the back.

Wow, now I feel bad about returning the BFG 688GT OC that I got for $320 from Best Buy. No one was interested in the PNY 6800GT I have for sale, so I got rid of the BFG. I assumed demand for these was pretty low.

Incidentally, if you have a Microcenter nearby, Best Buy, CompUsa, and Circuit City usually pricematch. MC has the card for $320 currently.

The end date of the MC circular is 1/16, and it might be extended another two weeks after that. MC typically gets decent restocks every week. Thus, if your store is out now, that doesn't mean it might be out come Tues/Wed (the days MC gets new shipments from their suppliers).

i've gone back to the cambridge ma store 3 times in the last 5 days, and called the days that i missed. they've yet to get more in, and each time i ask, they say come in the next day. however, the guy that i bought my original equipment from said that they might have some on friday, instead of telling me to come back tomorrow. he said the sale will still be on.
