I suddenly start having pixelation problems, game freezing, image granulation, and computer self boot.

System:

MB Shuttle MB AK32A
CPU: 2.2Ghz Athalon
RAM Memory: 1.5Ghz
Video Drivers: 81.98
Power Supply: 400w
Game: Quake 4
OS: Windows 2000 Professional, SP 4

Things that I have tried up to know:

1. Reisntall the game
2. Reinstall the OS
3. Update the MB drivers and BIOS
4. Installed the ID lattest Quake 4 Patch 1.0.4 (1.0.5 do not apply since this is most for Pentium HT Processor computers).
5. Call more than 1000 times BFG Tech support with no suscess.

The worse thing is to deal with the mediocrity of BFG Technologies Tech Support. No one pick up the phones calls, no emails pass thru, and no one pick up the phone of the office in Lake Forest, Illinois. The last thing I will attempt is to send a certified mail to see if I can get some tech support my the traditional mail.

Any help or suggestions from you folks will be really appreciated.

Thanks.

Sounds like bad video RAM or it's overheating. Is it overclocked?

Edit: I doubt you've called them 1000 times.

Is it overclocked?

Its the "OC" verson so yes, it comes over clocked. It also has on board water collant. My brother has the same problem with his GT OC. It is a heat issue with the card. If you can, try and get a better fan in your case. My brother has taken to removing the side panel of his tower and is using a regular fan directly into the machine when he plays games.

This is a common issue with the GT OC verson of the 6800. When you buy this card, you need to make sure your case is extremely well heat regulated or the card will act up like this.

Hope this helps.

Let me rephrase so you can understand. Is the graphics processor clocked at a higher speed than the speed at which the manufacturer has tested and guaranteed that it will work at?

Yes it is. Cards that are shipped "overclocked" are just shipped at a higher standard clock speed, which can be overclocked just like any other card.

Sounds like either overtheating, or an inadiquate power supply. What exact PSU do you have, 400w is meaningless if it's generic with a weak 12v rail. I recomend making sure you CPU temps are ok, running memtest to make sure your ram is ok, watch your GPU temps to make sure they aren't really high, clean out any dust build up that might be in the machine.

I used the Video Card for ~ 2 months with no problems.

Overheating? Welll hope not!! I run the PC in the basement with no home heating (very cool enviroment). The Video Card have "on it" a 120mm fan. What will happen on summer?!?!

BTW, I replaced the card with my old 64 MB and ran quake4 with no problem (even a REAL low resolution and slow game). No ixelation, game freezing observed. In fact, I am using right not the PC to write this statement.

Thanks for your advise!!

Well if you replaced the card with no problems, then it is in fact an over heating issue with the card itself. One way you can tell if the card is over heating is image distortion. I use to have this same issue with my GeForce 3 years ago. The stock fan on it wasn't keeping it cool enough in my case so I installed a fan from an old Pentium3 (it looked like crap but it worked)

And as I said, my brother has the same issues with his 6800GT OC. It is a heating issue with the card.
