Agreed. I have a BFG 6800 GT hard flashed to 400 1100 (Stock ultra). I OC from that point. Usually 420 1200 unless the ambiant temperature is very warm, then I leave it at stock ultra.

I also have a 6800nu that clocks to 390 800, fully unlocked. I'd say BFG is a good choice.

I have a eVga 6800GT agp & a BFG 6800GT pci-e. The eVga is noiser & the BFG has a longer warranty.
But EVga has excellent tech support.. You can't go wrong w/ either, get which ever is cheaper.

Jose

Go with evga, they will pretty much give you a lifetime warrenty plus they have the 90 days step up program... if you decide you want a newer card within the 90 days then all you have to do is pay the diffrence between your current card and the new one. Ive done it twice now and its great.

Whatever is cheaper. In the end they are all based 95% on the nvidia reference design...

Do your homework as I did...built my computer last Dec and I ended up getting the BFG 6800 ultra....EVGA was an option but I went with BFG...why? Lifetime warranty...the o/c of the card is not going to be noticable (only if your into benchmarking)...In researching this component, I found that people had very good luck with the BFG warranty....3 (or more) years down the road the extra money you spend on the BFG card could pay dividends if your card blows...can EVGA do that?

one other thing, if your really into savng money get the 6800 gt...it will give you pretty much the same performance but your initial cost is somewhat lower...ANAND has done tests to show that they are very close in all benchmarks...

i've never had a videocard die on me. in all likelyhood if it doesn't die in the first 3 mos, it won't. Having a lifetime warranty meant absolutely nothing to me. The company could go belly up in a year. So much for your wizbang warranty

Like it has already been pointed out, buy whatever is cheaper. They all use nvidia reference design, and if you're a tinkerer like 95% of the geeks on AT who are into videocards, you will end up changing the cooling, voiding your warranty anyway

If this matters at all.....BFG makes 6800GT cards with a really nice copper cooling sedign with orange detail and 2 blue LED fans...i think they look pretty nice compared to that green reference board with some weird picture slapped on it.....that is if ur not into tinkering...

Sorry forgot the links
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-143-022&depa=1 not sure if this forum allows html...

Anyway thoose fans light up, cant find any pics of it though....evga makes a good product ill admit..but i think looks matter a lot also(what the hell else are case windows for??) lol.....anyway you never mentioned if you wanted APG or pci-e....if its APG your all in becase the diff between the 2 BFG cards everywhere is 50 cents......for some reason though the Evga cards the PCI-E is 20$ more than there same model apg with same clock freq. settings(only at 350mgz when BFG's is at 470mgz..no OC lambchops)??......

also on newegg...and if you go to best buy or other bfg retaiers...check out chumbo.com at certain times...you can get it bundled with a lot of stuff.....i believe newegg is offering it with Doom 3(but all BFG cards are always sold out for good reasons)...and at outpost.com it comes with FarCry.....and usually you get some cool window blinds and Demo's ect ect......i dont know what evga comes with right now because i havent seen and bundles for it...but check out the packages too....because the BFG is only 20-30$ more...its OC'ed which you WILL notice a difference in games if you play with the high settings(which with a 6800 you should), and you get some cool games..maybe a t-shirt lol........look at a couple diff vendors to see if you can get a deal ect..do not just go by brand......because they are very close.....considering that warrenty doesnt matter to you..........

it also depends on the type of user you are. think about it. a bfg comes factory oc'd and with a lifetime warranty, but that means NOTHING if you're going to oc yourself. a factory oc doesn't mean you get to push it any further, since its still going to be using the same gpu and memory as other 6800gts. after you've oced that lifetime warranty goes bye bye.

with evga you're going to spend 40 bucks less for the same card. if you want to run at the same oc'd speeds as the bfg then go for it, but thats rather stupid considering you can definitely go higher. a 1+1 warranty is nothing to scoff at, neither is the stepup program.

it's your choice really but i feel that a factory oc means squat and a 2 year warranty is nice enough. even if you dont oc and keep everything at factory settings (weirdo), i still think its a tossup between the two. it's your money.

Dual fan 6800GT = AGP

If your buying ONE 6800GT, the evGA saves you about 50 dollars. If your buying 2. it saves you 60 dollars. Obviously, buying one is worth the eVGA, buying two = get the BFG for the warranty.

BFG is OCed stock, Lifetime warrenty, award winning tech support, and very fast RMA turnaround.

However, the dual fan BFG 6800GTs have a reputation of failing more frequently than other varieties of 6800GT.

So its up to you. Extra money for BFG or save the cash and possibly get a better cooling system on the evga.

For the record, i'm getting one card for now, hoping to get another for SLI later in the year. I haven't had a chance to look at cooling systems for 6800GT's yet cuz i've been too busy picking out components but thats a thought. (BTW, in that vein what do you guys reccomend?). I do plan to OC so the warranty means nothing to me, i guess i might go with the VGA unless i find a better bundle with the BFG.

I have a eVGA 6800GT. No problems at all with it. Runs fast, reliable, and the build quality seems to be there as well. That said, I really like BFG. These are the original Vistiontek guys and I have soft spot for those hardware geeks.

BFG for me know problems at all with it had it for (3) three months now.

Evga is cheaper I'll admit but once again it all about cost if you can afford it then BFG if not EVGA (even tho there not OC'd)
