Shim, the difference is that the 7800 is agp. It's unfortunate that we agp users have to settle for the inferior product at the same price, but there it is.

I'm still not sure I want to spend 200 bucks on a stopgap card when I know I'm getting a new computer middle of next year, but man, my 9600xt is showing its age these days

man, i'd upgrade that videocard.

8 months is a long time to wait to upgrade that card/system.

edit: also i'd put AGP in the title so people like me don't rain on your AGP parade

I just bought a 9800 pro from forsale/trade forum, and plan to hold out until HDCP drops into my price range on a PCIe. I wouldn't even be doing this upgrade if my son wasn't hot to play Hitman Blood Money. If its working for you, why change it, we still have a PC that does its duty just fine with a voodoo3.

AFAIK they are virtually identical in benchmarks....and the 7600gt is smaller by quite a bit and not as power hungry

In higher resolutions with aa/af the 7800gs pulls away from the 7600gt and they overclock real nice . I have a BFG 7800gs it will run games at 500 core 1.44 memory. I don't run it like that all the time though.
