You do realise that most cyclists are drivers as well don't you?

It's not a secret club where people forswear against all other forms of transportation.

Yeah that doesn't sound rude or inconsiderate either.

You and I were both part of the last intervention group that tried to talk sense with him, and we both know he has no interest in fairness, truth, or the law. He demonstrated then that he has very little understanding of the law or what's expected of motorists and cyclists.

He just wants to bitch about lobbyist boogiemen and rant about how everyone hates "elite cyclists." I say let him have his little echo chamber and ignore it.

Gotcha, so I have a couple of cars and a truck, I pay taxes on those already, so can I now ride my motorcycle up on sidewalks, ignore red lights, and intentionally hold up traffic? Same premise.

Some ciclists also owning cars has really no bearing on the situation. It's a separate mode of transportation, and most of them want special treatment with no taxation, registration, or licensing. It's absurd.

And of course the behaviour of some motorists is inconsiderate, they're flat out fed up.. I personally would never 'buzz' a ciclist. I actually view them as crazy, I've seen the videos of them intentionally ramming cars just to get a news story. I honk as I'm passing them to make sure they know I'm there. I also use a dashcam, just in case they swerve into my vehicle.

I suppose it is easier to simply ignore the facts, fingers in ears and all. That is what got you all in this predicament in the first place..

The bottom line is, legislation has turned against ciclists over the last 5 years due to people just like in this thread. Rather than try to deal with the issues ciclists cause on the road, you simply point fingers at the cars. Cars are going nowhere, and state reps are hearing more and more from frustrated motorists who support laws keeping ciclists off the main roads.

You all go ahead and get your little seats ready for a license plate. I would be surprised if you all have 5 more years of riding on the road without tax/tags/registration/licensing.

What has paying taxes got to do with you thinking that you can break the law?

There's no taxation on a bunch of other transportation options as well.

You'll find that a lot of them use head mounted cameras as well.
Given your lack of driving skills it's probably better that you take the bus though.

What predicament? The one where a bunch of bored forum users use you as a form of entertainment?
We're ok with that predicament thanks.

Yeah, that'll get a bit of support until people work out how much it would cost to legislate and enforce.

Also "Yay for big government!". What about joggers and pedestrians? You want to make them wear tags as well? What about skateboarders?

Incorrect, legislation has been for cyclist. Stop being a retarded troll.

More bike lanes are being installed and more laws protecting cyclists are going into affect.

In Boston, in the last year, one of it's main roads lost 76 car parking spots to make room for bike lanes. The Hub Biking program has been working so well, in Cambridge, these Hub centers are now open year round instead of closing for the winter. Open your car door and hit a cyclist, you're at fault and better hope you don't get ticketed b/c your insurance rates go up.

Very simple. Have a $100 / year 'road use fee', part of which helps fund protected lanes and other special needs for you ciclists.

You have to take mandatory safety classes, provided by third party vendors (similar to defensive driving) in order to get your "bicycle" amendment to your license. This will go over requirements such as allow faster vehicles to pass.

You have to register the serial numbers of your cicles with the tag office, and they give you a transferable "plate" that can either be velcroed to your spandex or attached to your seat. The plate is tied to the person and all of their bikes.

You must have the special license and plate on you any time you're cicling on a painted-line road. In other words, kids in neighborhoods are fine.

It's basically the exact same thing motorcyclists have to do. It's fair, safe, there's no reason not to do other than it gets your leotard all up in a wad.

I'm not a cyclist.

Would probably be better if you beefed up your actual driving test first. You know? The one that let's you propel large heaps of metal around at high speed.

I don't think my bike has a serial number.

So if I see the police coming I can dismount and push it along the pavement and not worry about having tags?

I don't wear a leotard.

My only agenda is fair use of the road by all.

shens

Up until recently, rude and lawless ciclists in my area were a major problem. I have a ~10 minute commute, almost all of it is 2 lane backroads with a shoulder or driveway only every couple hundred feet. On a weekly basis there would be ciclists "holding" the road, refusing to allow cars to pass, and refusing to pull over on the available shoulders to let traffic get by.

ride your bike instead..why do you hate yourself.

The result was 20+ minute commute to my office.

omg, seriously, and ENTIRE 20+ minutes. I would think that you appreciate the extra time on the road, since you love it so much.

ok, ok...I'm done with the troll.

I'm still waiting for the explanation of your passing a group of "ciclists" around a blind corner scenario.

That was officially when I realized that I was trying to reason with a retard and that SA's only real value is his amusement potential.

10+ minutes, per driver. Easily 15 cars end up stuck being these inconsiderate assholes when this happens.

We're talking about a couple hours of extra time that 15+ vehicles are idling along at 10mph watching a ciclist furiously pedal along.

That's two hours+ of extra emissions, of work lost, it's a compounding problem.

If you're that worried about losing work time you could post less and work more?

Getting close to overtaking the cop hating threads.

Now if there was a thread about bicyclist cops then we would have the perfect storm of a thread.

Muslim cycle cops wearing turbans instead of helmets.

I might spend 10 minutes per day keeping you ciclists grounded in reality.

Thanks for your service.

Might be better if you could spell cyclist though.

And if you had the ability to think logically.

Or read.

And if anyone actually cared about your opinion.

But do carry on, it's amusing.

That's time well spent, compared to watching some moron furiously pedaling uphill.

Well I suppose we get some entertainment value out of it, not sure what the upside is for you though.

A lot of this back and forth could be done away with if we just ran the fuckers over.
