What I don't understand is why bicyclists ride their bike down a busy street when there are parallel residential streets right next to them with not even 1/10th of the cars on them.

Around where I grew up, about twice a year some bicyclists would organize a road race. I don't know how they told people about it, because nobody living there ever knew about them until they came around a blind curve and there was a bunch of bicyclists doing 2MPH up a grade. Last I checked, if I organized a car road race on a public road every single car would get impounded, the drivers would get arrested, and the people watching would get a $500 fine.

Funny how that works.

..license them. makem display a plate front/rear and pay yearly registration like in Erp.GB, China and other places. No excuse to tollerate urban terrorists on bikes. Critical Mass is a bunch of tard morons who need to be fined and held responsible reguardless of their eco-theism pop culture immaturity. If they can afford 600.00 dollar bikes they can afford to pay for the damage they cause and the police baby sitting they require.

With regard to the bolded part, WTF are you on about?

The rest? Damage? Where? Did my 12lb bike damage some of the tarmac? Do my huge 21mm wide tyres pound the ground and loosen your foundations?

The damage done by motor vehicles outweighs that done by cycles by a factor of roughly 11ty bn to the power of infinity.

if you're talking about Octavia, you can't turn right because too many idiots in cars are hitting cyclists who has the right of way. They make their right on green, well, bikes can go straight on green, you tell me who is at fault. at least that's how I understood it from all the complaints.

and as far as your incident, I agree 100%. these messenger type bikers are nothing but trouble. Running reds, especially on a busy street is just retarded. Can't even donate your organs you get run over by a truck. I just wish people can make the distinction between what you ran into, and roadies that are safe and respects all other vehicles on the road, man and gas powered.

..your bike is a vehicle. And YOU need to be held responsible for infractions thus identified with plates and registration.

I ride my MTB, so I do urban assault to CYA it. Grass, dirt, high curbs, ect. no worries, anything to avoid causing grief to myself, peds, and cars. I do the road where it is necessary of course. AS to the OP rant, good to vent, but don't take your own bullsh!t too seriously, or you'll have more to worry about than cyclists

Lots of people think they are entitled. Have bicyclists pissed me off? Sure they have, but so have other drivers. I don't really think the type of transportation makes any difference.

Bicycles follow the same rules as cars. If they blow the red light and get creamed then too bad for them.

Just what is the worst infraction a cyclist can commit? Running a red light? Do cars do that and get away with it? Yep, every day, cause horrendous accidents and hit and runs. BUT THEY HAVE PLATES!!!

Oh, your plates idea just dissapeared in a puff of logic.

I guess the registration would be to pay for the damage and Police Baby-sitting? Right?

I agree, but entitling yourself to killing bicyclists is not necessarily a good idea.

Dude, I can't agree with you more. Pedestrians and bicyclists drive me crazy. I live in San Francisco too. I get so pissed when pedestrians and bicyclists jay walk and run reds. That is the point where I yell "Hey jackoff! You may always have the right of way, but I drive a CAR, so you may be right or you may be wrong, but I won't be the one thats DEAD because of a mistake."

You know what else drives me crazy? Pedestrians that stand off the curb and on the street to wait to cross. Yes, because the streets in San Francisco are so big, you definitely should stand on the curb the road, not dangerous at all.

I think the purpose of rant though is you know... to rant, possibly say things that you wouldn't really believe but say to well, rant.

Bicyclists are entitled to ride on the road, I'm fine sharing and take every precaution to make sure I don't hit one. I know when I'm riding my bike on the rode I do the same and hope every driver out there does too.

Bicyclists on sidewalk is a BAD idea btw, they just aren't large enough/meant for it.

Seems like SF is the complete opposite of Gainesville, FL. Here cyclists get owned all the time and the tickets are full price. The most common ones are running a stop sign - about $125 and wearing headphones while riding - about $60.

I got into a shouting match at 2nd and Brannon about 30 minutes ago- the light turned green and I took off, and a bicyclist entered the intersection and fell to the ground in an attempt to avoid my car. I had 100% right of way. Somehow it is my fault the mother ****** ran the red light - they just don't feel they need to stop.

The city here does not enforce red light rules against bicyclists at all. Therefore, it seems, they do not think the have any reason to stop. At any red light. Ever. One of them got mowed down by a cement truck onto turning onto 101 last month. What the hell do you expect, you choose to not stop at red lights, you get killed, and it's the city's fault for not protecting your ass? Now we can't turn right at Market and Octavia because your worthless ass thinks you don't need to stop. And it's a perfectly useful intersection - the reason why we can't turn is simply because you complained to the city. And guess what? I think a few more got hit since the cement truck incident - for not stopping.

Ferrando had accelerated recklessly through a crowd of riders, hitting one and knocking him from his bike, then attempted to flee the scene before riders surrounded the vehicle.

Got what she deserved. What was your point in posting that link? To show how idiotic your ranting is?
