every single ebay auction i bid on recently ive lost due to someone bidding at literally the last 2 seconds (not to mention waiting for the end of auctions is a gigantic waste of time). im wondering if anyone in here has had any experience with bid snipers (preferably free ones). i feel wary of inputing my username and password into some no-namer software so i want to know which ones people have tried and their experiences. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Using eBay's proxy bidding, if you put in the maximum you're really willing to pay then you can't be sniped.

"But they won by 50 cents!"

1. That's still over your maximum right? If not. didn't you put in too low of a number?
2. That's what they won with, not their maximum bid. They might have been willing to pay another $1,000 for all you know.
3. Shill bids! OK, that's somewhat valid if you buy from new people with close to 0 feedback. So don't bid on their auctions.

nope thats not the case. if that was the case then id get that "youve been outbid" notice right after pressing confirm (and it wasnt their max bid because they left any previous bids). someone was definitely sniping in all 5 of the auction i lost.

So are you saying they won the auction at a price that was lower than your max bid?

no, the person i quoted implied that i just didnt beat the persons max bid and thats why i thought i was being sniped. i was just clarifying and explaining that the auction was being sniped.

The thought is if you use the proxy they will just upbid you. Snipeing avoids this. Yes they work but dont be supperised if your out sniped when your snipeing. It works best on an auction with few bids, low activety. On a lively auction its kinda pointless. Again your trying to avoid being outbid by bidding at the last moment. Low latency high bandwidth connections cost more because they have more value.

In reality, sniping will get you a better price. Most people like to put a low max and if they get outbid, then they will decide whether they want to bid more.
