We need more threads like this. I'm shaking my head in awe to see how the conservative mind scares itself silly when they repeatedly flash themselves with that very-dangerous-to-play-with official Rove signature model mega-MIB-neuralizer. You guys just having some harmless fun with that thing, right? No? uh-ohhhh.

LOL - C'mon guys, snap out of it....no....please do carry on, it looks like this oft-repeated phenomenon hasn't played itself out yet. I still haven't seen the torches, pitchforks and terrifying displays of outright indignant keyboard flagellating yet.

He's already stated he'll do whatever it takes to ban assault rifles, Biden stated that includes EO.

Pay attention to what obama does and says.

So, when a public figure uses a colloquialism during a statement, you interpret that colloquialism as being literally true? I mean, are you really that stupid? Let me take you back to October of 1991, when one of your heroes then-Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas - testified under oath before the Senate . . .

I would have preferred an assassin's bullet to this kind of living hell that they have put me and my family through

So, when Clarence Thomas made that statement during his testimony before the Senate, you believed he literally meant that he would rather have been assassinated than go through the brutal confirmation process? I mean, if you believed that Obama's "I'll do anything" literally means Obama will do anything, then of course you believe that Thomas preferred death to the confirmation process. And if you did believed Thomas, did you ever ask yourself why Thomas never committed suicide? I mean, didn't he tell us that death was preferable his "public lynching" by Congress?

which is why they are idiots. lol. democracts always bring in record profits for them, and the status quo remains the same regardless of the omergoawd! paranoia. amazing con game the repubs have pulled by keeping this sector on their side, despite the benefit they receive from democrats

lol. sure.

So you're saying an assault weapons ban wouldn't impact gun sales?

I'm not going to read through this entire thread....I'll just state something.

Does it not concern people regardless of party affiliation that the President of the United States thinks he's entitled to even attempt this, to even consider this? Is the American public this desensitized to this blatantly arrogant behavior by a man in his position?

He's the President, not a king, and this is fundamentally wrong and against a basic premise of the American system of government. This is much bigger than the gun debate. I don't think he'll try and repeal the second amendment but any executive order applied to a Constitutional amendment is just fundamentally wrong.

It really worries me that people are so tied to a party (either one) that they've lost touch with their rights as Americans and watch them continually eroded...for their own good or "for action".

And Obama continues to be the best thing for guns and ammo sales. Skyrocketing sales without anything actually happening.

It would, if it were true and not just ridiculous right-wing hyperbole based on nothing at all.

GTa is not a stupid person, but he's started a stupid thread, and sucked in a lot of stupid members who are prepared and even anxious to believe the BS he's peddling.

Well there are more than a few people who would have never even thought they would hear executive order and Constitutional amendment in the same sentence. I don't think it's accurate to call people stupid because they are concerned with the potential actions of the President. I do think the OPs subject line is a bit misleading though.

Anyone who believes there is any real risk of the President amending or revoking a Constitutional amendment by executive order is behaving in a stupid, paranoid, delusional fashion, and having been a member here for as long as I have, I am comfortable saying that some of the members who have posted in this thread are morons (not just because of things they've posted in this thread, but because of the months and even years of stupid things they have posted on this forum).

People's irrational fears of President Obama are really interesting to me, particularly given that he has governed in such a centrist way and has historically done nothing at all to regulate gun rights. If anything he is right-of-center for a Democratic President on this issue.

Joe Biden said this shit. He's the VP in case you need to be reminded. Reporting what top officials in this regime say does not deem a thread "stupid". The post title was framed as a question and he quoted an article. You're treading into dumb ass territory, a region you explore with regularity.

Having said that, we all need to remember that Biden is slipping into dementia and has been for a number of years. His thoughts, the things he says are often inappropriate and sometimes border on the bizarre. His filter appears to be disappearing as he just blurts out what's going through his brain in what appears to be an uncontrollable fashion.

While Joey McMensa is keeping us busy with this, it would be far more important to pay attention to what this regime is end-running around while we're distracted.

This is easily one of the craziest, most utterly delusional threads I've seen on here in awhile.

I worry about you guys sometimes.

You don't say. The conservatives here are so full of LOL and fail it's beyond all reason.

Anyway, I say you americans ought to be legally allowed to bear all the 1776-era arms you are physically able to carry. So, blast away with your flintlock muskets and such all you want.

All the rest needs to go, because you're all clearly incapable of handling that stuff like normal, reasonable human beings.

I'm not as concerned about the man as the office he holds. The Vice President of the United States states without even a pause states that the President is considering utilizing executive orders in relation to a Constitutional amendment...this doesn't alarm you? This is irrational? How is it that people have lost one of the basic ideals of this country and not remain skeptical of our governments motives? This is an especially good example of that need.

He's just a man who won the office. I find it just as stupid and idiotic to defend a public servant with such zeal. Given this situation and his dealings with Congress I personally think he's a bit too high on his horse and can't lead with any positive results. He isn't the first and won't be the last President to be scrutinized. That's the beauty of the American system.

The country is as divided as ever. Our long term rights are certainly more important than one man....even the current and all Presidents to come.

Obama won't do anything to challenge the constitution by EO. If he does anything at the EO level, it will most likely be regulating hi cap mags and / or a significant 'fee' attached to ammo purchases. He could easily justify the fee to offset healthcare for victims of gun violence or for increased funding of the mental health sector.

No paranoia on my part, just simple conjecture on what Obama could do with an EO.

To be honest I'm personally not a fan of executive orders from any president. This is regardless of the item to be affected. This executive privilege throws balance of power out the window and has been used to sustain many armed conflicts. It's too much power for one person.

He does make Bush seem like a genius in comparison. I don't think anyone from either party could tell you with a straight face that the possibility of Biden as President doesn't scare the shit out of them.

Executive Orders have their place, but yes they can easily be abused. Our founders set up a constitutional republic that requires moral restraint to function properly. We're rapidly losing any sense of restraint.
