At some point you just flee.

No idea when that point is.

The US is not irrecoverably committed yet.

The moment violence becomes acceptable and unpunished is an obvious point.

Where to flee though?
scandinavia. sure it can get cold, but it's home to some of the happiest, healthiest, and wealthiest people. you know, with all that social democracy bullshit.

Easy answer but it is hard to get residency there.

Very hard.

Most require an act of parliament to grant permanent residency.

If a person could claim refugee status that is different, but if we look back on history no such break was given to the gays/Jews/Roma back in the day.

As fucked up as the US may be, Ive got 10 countries stamped in my passport. There is nowhere else Id rather live. People talk about fleeing, but most often lack experience in making their decision. The US is still the greatest country in the world, all things considered.

IMHO.

The difference between you and me is I am first up to get sent into the gas chambers.

Republican's have made me the #1 target of their hate speech for over a decade. Not going to get a lot of warning when things get ugly.

Easier to have that attitude when you aren't the one assumed guilty of an offense just for going out in public

I'm not sure I'd agree. There's potential to succeed in the US, but a country like Canada has a stronger safety net, much less crime, less theocracy and many of the States' perks. Many of the people who say "there's no place else I'd rather live" typically have comfortable conditions; they're not the ones struggling to find affordable housing, grappling with bigotry or losing reproductive rights. A country is not great if the only ones who can truly enjoy it are wealthy, white, straight, cisgender men.

Democrats have been very publicly denying elections they lose since at least 2000. So stop with the GOP having some monopoly on election denial.

So do you have an example of a substantial proportion of Democrat voters, and many of their leaders, openly claiming that an election was 'rigged' and thus invalid?

Sorry, but there will never be such thing as equal outcomes.

I think you missed a crucial phrase there 'some degree' - as in there should be some basic living standards that people can reap from society, such as a living wage, healthcare, reasonable housing costs, good transportation, fair work hours and leave, etc...

Of course there will be the rich and the not as rich, but what we have no is equal economic status to zero degrees.

Which is why democracy may be doomed. Capitalism leads to ever-increasing inequality, which leads to the erosion of democracy, political instability and economic failure, which leads to disorder and war, which leads to fascism or communism...which leads to economic failure and back to capitalism, and so on in a never-ending circle, getting more violent and destructive each time round.

Things not looking so promising in Sweden right now

The Sweden Democrats’ direct role in policy marks a historic shift in Swedish politics and would have been unthinkable less than a decade ago when no mainstream party would have anything to do with its leader, Jimmie Åkesson.

Founded by neo-Nazis and other far-right activists, the party has purged itself of many of its more extreme elements and moved steadily toward the mainstream under Åkesson, who became leader in 2005 and has overseen its rebranding.

Its success echoes progress made by other far-right parties around Europe. While their vote shares have not necessarily risen significantly in recent years, they have become increasingly normalised, accepted by both voters and mainstream parties.
