As of tommorow, here's the new pricing structure:

6000+ $169

5600+ $149

5200+ $129

4800+ $109

4400+ $89

4200+ $79

4000+ $69

Not too shabby?

Pretty sweet, starting to remind me of the heady days of K6-2 pricecuts when the P!!! was doing a fine job on AMD's financials as well before the Athlon was released.

Too bad there are no price cuts for the FX models, would be nice if quad-father's ever became cheap entry point for future migration to dual-quads with Phenom.

Great news for consumers, bad news for AMD. For christs sake, it's almost like their entire CPU line has been relegated to budget status. A delayed desktop K10 is obviously not helping, if reports of a Q1 08 launch are true then AMD will be in a world of hurt for the remainder of the year.

Sorry if this is raining on your parades because price cuts are great for us, but I really am starting to worry about AMD's financial stability.

Wish AMD made those cpu's for socket 939 (by "those" I mean the 5200-6000).

If they did I'd buy one instead of the core2 setup I plan to get at the end of the month.

Whoa, I just realized that looking at the list above. Every one of their processors is budget now it seems. I can't imagine how the execs down at AMD are feeling.

I was briefly considering a 6000+/AM2 upgrade instead of an E6750/P35 upgrade because of the great price... Then I looked up the 6000+ and it has a TDP of 125W, ouch! I'll take the E6750 at 65W thank you very much.

I had been thinking the exact same thing.

Have you settled on a MB?

uh...not me. i'd rather save the (performance-wise) useless upgrade to ddr2 ram and a new motherboard for some other time, especially if i could get away with a cpu for the prices that the OP posted on the platform i already had.

I wonder how will Henri Richards react on this? He's so quiet lately unlike when AMD had its best time. He would always comment against Intel every often.

It pains me to see AMD choke so hard on the price competition.

(altho unfortunately not enough to avoid waiting for the new core2's in a couple weeks. )

Aye...poor AMD. How low do you guys think the 5600+ and 6000+ are going to drop within the next week or two? Any chance of the 5600+ hitting down to $120? I wanted bragging rights of the 6000+ but in reality, 125W is just ridiculously high.

At this rate, Wreckter Ruinz will fulfill his promise to the company faster than anyone expects....

Exactly the same for me. If I could just buy a chip (significantly better than my current x2 4400) to chuck in my 939 board I would have done it months ago but as things stand i'll be going Intel for my next upgrade. If I have to buy a new motherboard, ddr2 ram and a processor I might as well get the Intel setup as it seems to be much better value.

They are not going to drop anymore. Manufacturer price cuts don't happen every week. You might find specials in different retailers but those prices are about what you will find them for until the next price cut which won't be for at least another few months, if it happens at all. I don't know how much lower AMD can bring their CPU's! I feel for them.

Thats why you get a Brisbane core and be done with it
Why would you buy a windsor anyway? Brisbane is more efficient, stable, and is a better overclocker.

Ruiz was named by that mad money guy on TV as one of the few CEOs that could actually leave the company, and have the stock go up as a result.

I picked up a 6000+ OEM from eWiz for $185 two weeks ago and is currently $173.

They also have an 4400+ OEM for $85!

My question is what happens to the 3600/3800. If i can get a CPU/MB/RAM for under $120, i would change Wolverine to a dual-core. I just need something to surf the web on the machine nothing fancy or anything.

Ridiculous prices... And to think all the dual core chips a year and a half ago were at least $300 in Canada! Have CPU prices dropped like this any time in the past?
