I usually back athletes. I give them the benefit of the doubt, but this guy appears to be some kind of serial rapist. I hate the Steelers with a passion. I grew up in Dallas and I'm a huge Cowboys fan. That doesn't mean it's ok for girls to make false rape accusations just because someone else did it and got some money from it (or because they drunkenly screwed someone and then later regret it).

Didn't you just make your own point? I know girls who go "hunting" at training camps. Literally they fuck athletes hoping to get pregnant and have a free ride. It's absolutely horrible.

Meanwhile, all the security footage from the bar gets deleted and the janitor is sent into the bathroom to scrub the whole thing down.

In her statement to police she told Ben she didnt want to do this several times and he said "yes you do." Her friends told the guards to let them in, they wouldnt. Since then the girl has dropped out of school to undergo counseling.

Truthfully, the only reason he isnt on the stand is because she won't testify and I don't blame her. Rape is the crime in which the victim's character can (and will) be viciously attacked by the defense.


As a side note, my gf's roommate went to school in Pittsburgh. She is not surprised at all. She and her friends hung out with him a few of times and he's basically a disgusting pig.

WTF does this mean? Are you referring to the prosecutor and police spending time on his case? Of course they're going to investigate it, and now they've concluded that they don't have a case so they've stopped. Are you referring to the media? Why would thousands of rape victims want their situation to be publicized?

The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback also was ordered to undergo a comprehensive behavioral evaluation. Commissioner Roger Goodell will evaluate Roethlisberger's progress before the season and might consider reducing the suspension to four games.

Where there's smoke there's fire. The guy has put himself into some very compromising situations that can't be debated. While what happened in that restroom could never be known except to the parties at witness the NFL has a business and image to uphold. Goodell basically layed the banhammer down and sent the message of "keep your dick in check".

Goodell knows that the public doesn't want the buying public thinking his athletes are above the law. He has been making examples of people in situations he doesn't want tarnishing his business.

Absolutely they should investigate. And once no evidence is found and they decide not to prosecute that should be the end of it. The media and the NFL need to leave it alone.

I don't want thousands of rape victims stories publicized, I want all rape accusations taken seriously and this situation doesn't help that.

If you've ever worked for a big company, you know you can be disciplined without being convicted of a crime. All you have to do is tarnish the reputation of the company and the hammer comes down. Let's say you make a blog about how crappy your company is. Perfectly legal with freedom of speech but the company can take internal action if they wish.

This is pretty much what the NFL is doing. Goodell already clearly stated in the press conference that Ben is suspended not for breaking the law but for killing the reputation of the NFL. Now as for actual evidence in the police report, it's kind of nebulous.

The actual report has Ben drinking drink after drink the whole evening. He demanded a private bartender, bouncer, and another employee to section off the VIP area and only let through young women. He was yelling profanity and ejected a girl from the VIP area when she refused his advances. Then, after that is the alleged rape with all the bodyguard stuff.

The reason they won't file charges is 2 fold. The accuser was too drunk that evening to not get completely crucified by a defense attorney. Secondly, the doctor that examined the accuser was unwilling to conclude that the bruising and bleeding in the girl's genital region was caused by assault from Ben. I'm not really sure why the doc concluded what he did but without that, prosecution isn't going to file charges.

Even if nothing illegal happened that night, the Steelers looking to trade Ben means they don't think he's going to change his barhopping risky behavior, legal or not. It's kind of strange. All Ben has to do is "grow up" a little and stop bar hopping and I'm sure another team would take him in. After all, he does have 2 rings and is a top 5 QB on the field.
