As Justoph said it's what the people want and the mechanism is functioning properly. If the area is mostly Republicans than it makes sense they have candidates that those folks would vote for. As Americans this is a core value left or right. I believe I will always prefer to live in a more left-leaning environment and I want to be represented by the folks who see things my way. If all the choices were varying stages of liberal I'd be happy. Not trying to take those same liberties away from other Americans even if they are stupid as fuck. Will just work harder at the vote next time.
I don't believe anyone was denying the right for them to vote for the hero of their party they've chose. The Party, however, does not get to walk away from it.
Well that got away from me towards the end. I meant to state that I don't think that one side should "win", that the whole country should be liberals just because I am a liberal. There should always be multiple parties, choices, points of view, etc.
