Big dogs or little dogs?

Do you guys prefer big dogs or little dogs?

All the dogs Ive had in the past have been medium/big dogs. Labs, Great Danes, etc. But a couple years ago we got two little dogs (a Yorkiepoo and a Maltipoo). I have to say...I never liked small dogs (aka dust mops lol) until I owned a couple. They are wonderful! Loving, affectionate, and funny as hell. So much personality!

How about you guys?

This is just my opinion but I think small dogs are better. They are more clean, they don’t require much space and they don’t have to walk as much. So the amounts of exercise and maintenance is relatively less. Also, I have heard that small dogs are more loyal.

People say small dogs are practically worthless because they don't provide the physical protection/intimidation a big "tear your face off" dog does HOWEVER the most important protection a dog of any size provides is advance-warning that SOMETHING isn't right boss!!!

Also dogs provide active protection for your soul!

We had two little rat dogs. One was a yorkie-chihuahua cross, the other was a mutt rescue that was SUPPOSED to be a full-blooded long-hair chihuahua...but was not.

The yellow rescue was 17 1/2 and the "chiwookie" was 15+ when we had them put down last summer. (Serious health issues)

About two months later, we got this:

He's an F1b labradoodle. (3/4 poodle, 1/4 labrador retriever)
He was supposed to be between 35 and 45 lbs TOPS, but last month, he turned 1 year old...and is 58 lbs.

Small dogs = less poop. I let mine go in the yard and it disappears. Big dogs, you end up with a yard of landmines.

My other grip with big dogs is that they don't know they're big dogs most of the time...not their fault, but if they make a mess, it's sometimes bigger just cause they are.

I love all dogs, but I prefer small i n the house. Plus small dog =small poop in the yard.

My Jack Russell weighs 11.5 lbs.

I prefer no dogs. At least not in my house.

I grew up with pets and want none of my own. I love animals but they are a lot of work and dirty. And it sucks when they die.

That's 100% true. Putting down our two little rat dogs last year nearly did me in.

My problem with little dogs are the owners seem to not see any reason to train them not to bark for 8 hours a day. My last 2 dogs were a St. Bernard and a Great Dane and I currently have another Dane so I love the big dogs but little dogs are great too if people bother to train them.

Love all dogs but prefer a large dog for myself. So we can go on long walks together, hiking longer and harder trails, and one day backpacking.

Fluffy dogs, big or small. Dogs with real fur bother my allergies just enough to annoy me. I love them anyway but would never be able to have one. And dogs with hair keep the house very clean since they don’t shed.

My little man at the top of a tough hike up in the White Mtns the other weekend. 3000 feet and 9 miles and he can do it way better than I can

I like big dogs. Also I like cats. I don't generally like small dogs as much as big dogs or as much as cats.

Eventually when I move out to a more rural area, we plan to get a couple big mutts, but, until then, we will stick with our cat triumvirate.

Our small dog is also a huge hiker. You think she won't be able to clear some rocks in the Whites, but she just mountain goats her way up or leaps 4 feet from a standing position.
