BIG HELP Needed

I just fired up my sony vaio laptop.. The windows home edition status bar comes, as if windows is loading, then after a few seconds, it reboots all over again.

Tried safe mode, no success
Then tried the Directory Service Restore Mode, it said the C and D drives are clean, but said in the end..

"Cannot determine file system of <??\123541234...(weird number continued)

please help me.. its my dad's laptop, so.. MAY DAY! MAY DAY!!

Try booting from a windows xp install disk, go into the repair console and chkdsk the drive. May want to fixboot and fixmbr just for giggles as well.

ok it checked the disks, both C and D are ok.. Still the problem persists

Boot again from the XP CD, this time do a Repair Installation. You will not lose anything except updates you installed on XP. If this does not fix it you might have to do a full restore using the restoration disks. Make sure you do a surface scan if you have to do a full restoration. You might want to check also the cpu fan making usre it is still running. Overheating is a major concern for laptops, specifically Sony.
