Enticed by the dropping prices on LCD TVs and monitors, I'm mulling over the idea of going from my current 19" Samsung to a 24-27" widescreen display. My main use and attraction for getting a big display is playing World of Warcraft, but I work from home so it would also be used for work. This dual use may be the toughest conflict to handle, since I have an old laptop for work that would not support a high rez like 1920x1200 or widescreen resolutions. (New one allegedly coming in 2006, though.)
Looking around here and elsewhere at reviews and user comments, I'm focusing on the Dell 2405 and some of the upcoming 26-27" panels (such as the Westinghouse LTV-27w6 which I think is S-IPS) that have 1366x768 resolution. A 30" panel wouldn't be out of the question, but 32" is probably getting too big.
So given my main criteria below, I'd appreciate any feedback.
* Large, widescreen display 24" minimum.
* Does a good job scaling non-native resolution, e.g. 1280x1024, esp. for text.
* Works well for PC games, though not necessarily the fastest FPS.
* MSRP under $1500 (read as: can be had on street under $1k).
