Instead of a price drop, they're going to sell the GC with a GBA adapter, so you can play GBA games on your GC now. It will sell separately for $49.99.

So after the free game promo ends, the GB Player promo will begin? No way to double dip? I would love to get them both... alas pipe dreaming is what I do best.

It's not really clear, but that appears to be the case (free game promo will end before the GBP promo begins).
I couldn't find any specific dates, though, so you can keep hopin'.

Heads up, I did see the zelda bundles at walmart yesterday in the indigo color. May want to pick it up soon if you want to be guaranteed a copy of the bonus disc.

I bought the zelda bundle from walmart yesterday and noticed that the bonus games are packaged in the same case as the wind waker.

I was able to purchase a Platinum GameCube with Wind Waker and the OoT bonus disc at the Fullerton, CA Toys R Us (the one next to Costco) for $161.61 total. There are few OoT discs left there. So YMMV

Technicially its not supposed to be for resale though and only to be packaged w/ purchase of GC.

UPDATE:

Best Buy and Target do not appear to be particating in the free game promotion anymore. However, Toys R Us still is and they have platinum cubes left. This is in Troy, MI area. Walmarts near are sold out of the zelda bundle, from what I can tell.

Still can't decide if I should pick one up or wait...

According to Nintendo's website, the free game promotion was supposed to end mid-May. They're probably going to have a period where it's $149 with no free game. EB Games is still participating in the free game offer, but it won't last much longer. I personally have no interest in playing GBA games on my GC. I want 3D graphics darn it...not Super Nintendo games

Heh, but some of the best games were on Super Nintendo. Zelda3, Mario Kart, Mario World, and Yoshi's Island were all great games in their own right. And now they plan on bringing the ultimate NES classic to GBA - Super Mario Bros 3. I'd say that it'd be quite worth the value of the GBA add-on as a purchase or bundle, since the above mentioned games can be played by those who remember "the good ol' days."

As for the free game offer, I know Circuit City is still running it as advertised in this week ads (May 18-24). If Best Buy is not participating in the offer in my area, then I'll go with Circuit City... not that I don't mind doing anyway since I don't wanna deal with BB for the while.

Why?

edit: Got my quotes mixed up, sorry!
I think it's obvious that I've had some bad experiences when I went to Best Buy that was nearest to home. I don't mind that they have good prices on some items on some days. But until there is an absolute reason, I prefer not to go to BB.

The clerk at the BB near me has claimed they canceled the deal a month ago. :disgust: I didn't see any signs, and I don't see why they could cancel the deal and bring it back.

However, with a little calling around I was able to pick up one of the Zelda bundles for $149 from Walmarts. They still got a couple if you are near the Walmarts in Commerce, MI.

I don't think the deal was ever cancelled at all. But then again, you can probably see now why I wanted to avoid Best Buy in the meantime. But at least you still got a 'cube. Congrats.

Does anybody know when the demo discs are going to start being bundled with the console and which stores are going to include it? I just bought a GameCube at walmart and didn't see any information about the demo disc. I want to know in order to see if other stores have a zelda bundle, since I already have the OOT bonus disc and the only difference the bundle I have has is the GBA-GC link cable.

I saw a commercial for the deal tonight. The updated one with Zelda. So as far as Nintendo at least is concerned, it looks like the deal is still going on.
