Great news! I heard (on gamefaqs.com) that Nintendo is cracking down hard on importers, I hope this doesn't affect our ability to buy from Lik-Sang. Although, I heard the only action they are taking is to make sure that offending retailers cannot sell Nintendo products and I don't think Lik-Sang really buys and sells Nintendo USA products sourced through regular Nintendo of America channels. So maybe it won't make a difference- I hope.

GameCube Price-Drop In Canada

As of today, the Nintendo GameCube has a new price in Canada! At $199.95 (Canadian funds, after a $30 drop in price), you will be able to pick up a GameCube (Platinum, Jet Black, and Indigo) system including a free Nintendo Preview disc, and one of four games (Metroid Prime, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, StarFox Adventures or Mario Party 4). Also, Nintendo will launch a national TV advertising campaign to promote the new GameCube system price.

If you can get an exchange rate of 1.5 (kind of unlikely right now...) you can pick a cube up for $133.33 USD. Could be a pre-emptive for a US price drop.

So basically, N has dropped GC prices in Japan. Then Canada. So, the U.S. is next, right? I wish they'd hurry it up

I got Knockout Kings 2003 for 19.99 at target.

not that hot a deal, but for those that want this game it might be worth a look.

I personally didn't like the game much, it just didn't feel like boxing to me. but then again, Mike Tyson's Punch Out!!! set the bar pretty high

Tiger Woods 2003 and Knockout Kings 2003 are pretty much $19.99 everywhere you look now.

Why should anyone care if you buy an xbox ? This isn't a console war thread.

As to your issue about new releases for the Gamecube, there are plenty of them. Go to Gamespot or IGN to read about them, if you actually have an interest other than being antagonistic. And have you already bought all 30 or 40 great games that are available for low prices and finished them ?

Hey, I'm just trying to start a bit of fire under this thread, it's been dying a slow death over the past couple weeks. And I've been looking at previews, and quite frankly there is not a lot sparking my interest. The Suffering, Rogue Squadran III, SSX3 and of course Soul Calibur II are probably all I'll pick up between now and the end of October. As for stuff that's out now that I don't have, I have about all I want save for RE & RE0 which I'll probably get at the end of the week. And that will give me a grand total 12 games. I'll admit I'm pretty picky, what others consider great I may be critical of (I really thought RS II was just mediocre), and you're estimate of 30-40 shrinks pretty dramatically when you take out sports games (zero interest for me), kiddy games (no, I can't get past Celda), and party games (parties I have usually have more interesting things going on). This isn't a dig on the cube, it still has more games I want to play than any other console, it's just that I want more.

And that has what to do with a Deal thread again?

Nothing wrong with XBOX--I own one myself, and it's honestly my primary console--but I think you'd be better served discussing a topic like this in OT.

I wasn't trying to start a debate, like I said I was trying to get this thread moving again. It was a tounge-in-cheek comment that followed up this post:

Allright, I'm getting a little disgruntled here. I love my Gamecube, but retail stores seem to be overlooking it every week in their sales flyers and it's been a rather long dry spell as far as decent new releases lately. I'm ready for some new deals on some kick-ass games dammit!

If you want something to look forward to, how about the Gameboy Player that's coming out in a couple of weeks. That will be sweet as you'll have access to tons of great GBA games that you'll be able to play.

Has anyone imported Soul Caliber 2 yet? If so, is it worth the price to get it a few months early?

I read the IGN review of the import and it doesn't look like there is too much Japanese except for the Weapons Mode Quest (or whatever it's called.)

Just a quick rant, sorry for anyone looking for a deal.

Does anyone else find it slightly annoying that Nintendo makes games that require the GBA in order to complete all of the sidequests? I find the fact that I get an item called a "tingle tuner" (that looks a lot like a GBA) in Zelda:WW which requires me to hook up the GBA advance to the system in order for it to function.

OK, I'm done. /rant

Yes, that 'feature' is going to be even more integrated into FF: Crystal Chronicles. I really don't understand the big N's hardon for GBA/GC interconnectivity, but I won't say anymore about it here.

Simple marketing: Sell a product that can be enhanced with other products you make. If you have a GC, you're going to want to get a GBA so you get get the extra features. SONY is famous for this...their new TV's and some of their DVD players have Memory Stick slots for your SONY digital camera.
