Supposedly, the game has been discontinued. Not all places are selling it for $20 but a lot are. I'd pick it up fast.

I got the GC version yesterday and played through the first dungeon. Very good game.

just buy from ebay - i got my gamecube on ebay from a certified dealer for 100 bucks, came with some horrible game, two controllers, memory card - and it was brand new. not bad. also had the warranty (obviously).

Gameboy player would work, it effectively makes any gamecube into a gameboy advance and works in most (if not all) applications that call for a gameboy, FF:CC included.

If you ask me though, using the Gameboy Player in this situation is more inconvenient than it's worth.

And I don't know if you were thinking this or not but you cannot use the same gamecube to run FF:CC and as a gameboy advance.

Gameboy Player won't work since you need a boot disc in the GC to activate it(unless you're talking about having 2 GC's and a GB player). Nevertheless, the game can be played by a single player, so if you really want the game then it should be a decent single player game, but obviously this game was meant to be a multiplayer one.

i just have one gc and one gbp ... can't afford another gc nor gba (at least not here, not now)
ah well... i'll just enjoy it single player, just like other games.

Well, first off, Square was intrigued by the idea of using the GC/GBA connectivity, so they made a FF game that focused on multiplayer and took advantage of the GBA connectivity. The game can still be played as a single player game, and I hear it's quite good, but it truly shines in multiplayer. I'm actually quite excited about it cause it's the first multiplayer RPG I've ever heard of(that's not online).

Second, GC designed the minidisc format with the hopes that it could battle piracy. It looks like it's working. It sucks that you have to special order stuff, but hopefully if more people start getting their games legitimately then GC will have a larger presence in the area. Good luck!

Well I know its not available in China/Taiwan and some other SE Asia countries due to piracy concerns. Korea is still banning some Japanese entertainment also (only other place where there would be a decent market).

I'm looking for a Freeloader or Action Replay deals. $19.99 Freeloader seems to be gone at all retail stores now and the Action Replay is $39.99! Damn!

From what I've read 2 player FF:CC sucks because one person is always stuck carrying the shield thing. Where in single player at least the mog carries it. Though the action of multiplayer is going to be more fun...
