I found this odd too. However, my gripe was that we activated on 12/31/02 for my son, the email response said it ends on the same date as yours - 12/28/03!

While it is only 2 or three days (it isn't a leap year), I wonder why 12/28/03???

Anybody?

From the start of the day of 12/31/02 to the end of the day of 12/30/03 is exactly one year. You aren't being shorted any days.

Well, if you are going to not doing anything to your xbox, it gives you some piece of mind. If you decide to upgrade your HD or whatever, then it'll void your warranty, prolly including the extended warranty.

Hi guys! I plan to sell or trade in my Sega DC so I can buy a Xbox. Can you guys please suggest where I can trade in/sell my DC so I can get some good money of it. I've tried Ebay but people are not willing to pay much for it. I was hoping that Xbox's price would drop after Xmas but it didn't happen. I guess will have to apply for AMEX and use BVG to protect the price for another 60 days

We should not BUY any of those $25 games until they bring it back down to $10! Don't they realize that just because something is good at $10 doesn't mean it's still good at $25?

Stupid move on their part, IMHO.

Agreed. At $10 it's basically an impulse buy.
Of course, there are the unscrupulous that take those and return to Walmart at full price. :disgust:
Similar to people that abused the Hollywood video .99 coupons. Basically just ruins good deals for the rest of us.

For those of you that are Costco members.
They have some decent games for $15.
I picked up FIFA 2002 about 10 days ago and it's pretty fun to play 2 v 2.

That's the same as what Amazon do all the time.

I was just wondering how many of you signed up for the extended warranty for your XBox. It's for an extra 2 years for about $50. It just seems like piece of mind in case I somehow do something stupid. I was just wondering how many of you actually did it and what you think of it. It says I have to decide within 10 days of purchase....so I've got a few days left to choose.

My X-Box is in an apartment full of College students and the hordes of idiots that frequent our apartment. EB sold me their 1 year plan for 20 bucks.

Not a hot deal, but an FYI:

I purchased my Xbox right before Thanksgiving. At the time, I'd read online (and I called the MS Rebate Center to confirm) that the free DVD Player Kit deal (after mail-in rebate) had been extended to the end of November. I believe the original expiration date was sometime during the first week of November. Anyway, I purchased the DVD Player Kit with my Xbox, and filled out & sent in the rebate form.

I got a letter in the mail on Monday saying that they could not fulfill my request because the rebate had expired before I bought the item. I called the MS Rebate Center and talked with a rep there, explaining to her that another rep had informed me that the rebate had been extended until 30 November. This rep I talked to on Monday said that she would forward my information over to the "escalation team" (?), who will call me in a few days.

Anyone else have a similar experience? I really don't need another reason to dislike MS.

I've always had a problem with ms's rebate center but a phone call always straightened it out.

I purchased my Xbox within the original rebate deadline but waited to get the DVD kit until after the original rebate deadline....(I called MS to verify the extension before I did so).......but I had no problem getting the rebate.....it came rather quick too

Confirming that Buffy is back to $24.99 at EB...

I was able to pick up Serious Sam for $10 and Metal Gear Solid 2 for $20 - $10gc MIR... Still made off decent, but I really wanted cheap Buffy too :frown:

Just got my Xbox so I'm all around looking for other good deals..
Guess I'll scour Blockbusters in the area to see what sort of deals they have on Prev-Used Games....

I'm in the same situation, my Xbox was a gift to myself and I have been looking for all the deals I can, although I am slowing down since I realize I can't keep spending money like this. My local Blockbuster sucks at selling pre-owned games. They only knock like $5 off the retail price, it's pretty rediculous.

Argh. I guess MS just hates me!

Actually, I got the phone call from the escalation department tonight. She said that she needs another copy of my sales receipt, and as long as it falls before the deadline, they'll send me a check. Sounds like what Smolek said above...

I got my X @launch and figured since it was a new system and had a hard drive, it had a decent chance of needing to be replaced within 2 years (my warranty term). Luckily I haven't had any problems to speak of compared to others, but I have recently started to get some intermittent "dirty disc" problems. I'm sure you've seen the screens on demo kiosk Xboxes so I figure it inevitable, but hopefully not. Maybe it has gotten better on the newer ones. Keep in mind tho I paid $300 and didn't expect a $100 drop in <1 year. If the price drops to $150 or less, I dunno how much value paying $50 in advance would be.

TIA,

" regarding my post at top of page 3 on how my son's subscription started on 12/31/02 but it was ending on 12/28/02 - not 12/30/03 as juiio refers to. So, there is a difference of two (2) days from being a full year.

Why it was interesting to me? Well, why is MS using that date (12/28/03) as an end date for two different people who signed up for X-Box Live? Is it a "special" date, or, is it simply a glitch in their system?

Yes, I know, its just two days at roughly 14 cents per day for a grand total of a 28 cent loss (gotta mind those precious pennies : ), but curious, penny-pinching, conspiracy-theorists, angry individuals such as possibly myself, are a little curious...

Must be the stubborness in me from my Accountancy Minor of 20 years ago.
