No, its just that there are no deals. Expect it to be in a lull for another week/week & a half and then it will pick up.

Sorry for the lack of updates folks. I haven't had much free time...but plan to catch it up-to-date tomorrow.

And yes, there has been somewhat of a lull lately. Normal this time of year during the "ramp-up" to E3.

If there is a console price cut, you can bet there will be LOTS of different deals to post!

No, not at all. I've seen a number of Xbox deals being posted, just not in this thread.

So, where or how do you get the Gamer's GC? I keep seeing all these comments about it, but that is about it.... thanks.

I picked up Beach Spikers at the $9.99 price from BB, but I'm not sure if I want to keep it, or trade it in for DOA Volleyball on XBox. Has anybody played both and have any input on this? My male instincts say to go with DOA....but if Beach Spikers plays better, then maybe I should put hormones on hold and stick with what I bought.

Beach Spikers runs circles around DOAXBV in terms of gameplay. DOA is all about fan service, with a volleyball game loosely added in so you can call it a game. It doesn't even allow you to play 2 player cooperative.

Let's put it this way: If you want a good-playing volleyball game, stick with Beach Spikers.

If you want to look at CG boobies, get DOAXBV.

Personally, I have both because there's a time and place for each.

One thing is for certain: Beach Spikers is a STEAL at $10. Heck, I bought it for $30 and I still think it was worth every penny, particularly if you have a friend to play it with (coop or vs).

The fatal flaw of Beach Spikers is that with each volley, it momentarily takes control away from the player. I hate that to no end. That and the CPU-teammates poor AI in where to stand. DoAXVB gives you full control of your character and limited control of your teammate. A much better scenario, IMO. The volleyball game is deeper also. More subtle, but there are more types of hits and more strategy involved. Spikers is still a great game though, and a steal at $10.

Go to the game section of Best Buy and pick up a GC for $20. They are around the games so should be easy to find. Check out with only the GC. Walk back in to the store, go grab the game you want, and check out using the GC. $5 off...voila.

If you can't find them ask someone there.

They are called: "Gamers Gift Certificate"

They are in a CD Jewel Case and inside this case should be a coupon for $5 off $19.99

They Gamers GC doesn't have any value which mean you have to take it to the cashier and add money to it

Last time I went I bought Pac Man World 2 for $19.99. I took the Gamers GC to the cashier and I ask them that I wanted to add $16.30

This is the reason why: The game cost after coupon $14.99 + TAX which in here in Chicago is 8.50% and that TOTALS to: $16.30

!!!!!!!!DO NOT Add $20 to the GC because you are only going to use at least $17

A lot of people like DOAX, but I'm not. It's just too simple. I think if u're not in it for the girls, at least partially, u won't enjoy it. People say it's simple yet, addicting, but paying full price for so little gameplay seems like a rip to me (this isn't simple like Tetris simple. More like Pong simple) Even my friend, who's a DOA geek (he's got the calendar and a DOA girls poster for goodness sakes), beat it and returned it to EB 2-3 days after he got it, even though he had been waiting for it with eager anticipation for over 6 months.

Something I posted as a separate post:

Ok, so the rebates are in the form of Electronics Boutique gift cards.

Anyway, the details:
This only works at the EB B&M's

For all these preorders you have to pay in full ahead of time.

EB is currently having a deal where you can get the Animatrix and/or the Enter the Matrix Strategy Guide free after rebate via giftcard if you preorder Enter the Matrix (for all systems). This offer is also available at the website but there's quirk to it (see below).

So, preorder Enter the Matrix at EB for $49.99, The Strategy Guide for 14.99 (You don't actually have to get this if you dont wan't to of course, but I figure since the final price for it would be just tax, might as well), and the Animatrix DVD for 19.99 + tax.

My total for those was $91.98 (CA Tax).

Here come the rebates/gift cards:
You can pick up the $15 and $20 for the Strategy Guide and Animatrix (they are combinable) at the store, but also pickup an EB catalog. Inside you'll find a $10 rebate offer for any XBOX game $39.99 or higher. You have to send the original receipt in, but all these rebates are going to the same place. Also, I wondered how I could pick up stuff without my receipt, but more than 1 EB associate has told me to just bring an ID.

The XBOX rebate is due 5/15 so you'll need to preorder before that time and send it off. Also, I advise making a copy of the receipt just in case.

So all that, about $85 worth of stuff for about $40 and taxes ($46.98 for me, and a stamp and envelope to send the rebates off), less than the price for Enter the Matrix + tax!

This deal is still good without the $10 for the XBOX rebate, but just better with it

I was reading the XBOX offer carefully, and while it says it can't be combined with any other offer or promotion, I think you should be ok because the other rebates don't apply to the game itself. Instead, you have one rebate per item on the receipt.

One more thing. When you preorder, you also get the special bonus DVD which has:
One anime from The Animatrix DVD (obviously, you wont need this anymore)
10 minute "making of" video
One song from the game soundtrack
Theatrical game trailer?directed by the Wachowski brothers
Exclusive Web site access for game tips and tricks

The game and strategy guide are available 5/15
Animatrix DVD is 6/3
and the bonus DVD should be available at the store when you preorder, but my EB misplaced theirs so I'll get it later.

Maybe I read too fast, but what's the quirk? That it is B&M only? You need to pick up the catalog to get the $10 off xbox game? Or you can do it online, but need to go to B&M to get the catalog? I assume you did it all B&M?

Sounds like a good deal, but I hate EB. Wonder what BB and CC will offer...

edit: man I even Previewed this post and still missed a typo!

Not a good deal!!

Eb is still working on the last rebates that took place like 2 months ago. I don't want to wait that long to get a rebate.

Yeah it took forever for EB to send me my $10 gift voucher for MGS2, but I did eventually get it. They hang onto that money for quite some time tho.

It takes about 2 months. If you have expierence with mail in rebates, you know this wait time is perfectly normal. A lot of people have said they haven't got their rebates for Metal Gear, while I dead months ago, and I was actually behind a lot of people.

You DO need patience though.

Microsoft is the only company I would say is outstanding when it comes to mail in rebates. And most companies outsource their rebates I believe, anyway, which is usually the problem with timeliness.

Contact EB if they're really behind on their rebates. Always keep solid documentation.

There's always a wait and a risk with mail in rebates. I guess you learn with experience who to trust. Sorry to hear if they've been bad for you.

Those you mentioned, but I'm not sure if you can combine those $20 and $15 rebates OR you have to go with their $30 rebate. Referring to online.

I enjoyed playing through Dead to Rights. However, I would only buy this game if it were $10. I rented it from Blockbuster and played beat the game in a week. It's fun, but pretty easy. Plus, there isn't much replayability for this title. Once you beat it, that's pretty much it! I recommend it for a rent (or borrow from a friend), but I wouldn't buy it.
