Actually, this thread--just like the BIG LIST - Dreamcast Deals--has ALWAYS been about deals for ANYTHING Xbox-related, which includes:

* Consoles
* Games
* Controllers
* Other accessories
* Other miscellaneous info

All that info is then compiled and added to the first post, which is continually updated.

Thanks for the reply, I was just pointing out that it seems like the main focus of the thread has shifted as more and more people have obtained the system and now are only looking for games/accessories.

However, you still didn't answer my question.

Anyone know if there is a better deal out there?

It seems like there have been very FEW deals on the consoles since the pre-Christmas rush.
Console sales were pretty strong this year, so I don't think retailers are gonna be scrambling to move units with a lot of promotions.

Actually, the Buy.com deal with free shipping seems like a pretty good one.

Unless, of course, you can PM to another e-tailer including the free shippping, and then apply a coupon ($30 off $150, etc.)

Chase: Hollywood Stunt Driver is on sale for $14.99 at Fry's Electronics and the normal price is $19.90 (better than any price I saw posted for it before). Game got crappy scores, but might be worth a look for that price.

As long as there is one near by then yes they will

Man..that is tempting...but I'm thinking about getting a Radeon 9700pro w/ 10% off and using my GC's. After everything's all said and done, I'll have only spent ~$150 out-of-pocket.

Best Buy and CC will each not only match a LOCAL competitor's price, but will also refund an extra 10% of the pricematch amount.

For example:

If BB has Serious Sam for $39.99
And CC has Serious Sam for $19.99,

Then not only will BB PM to CC's $19.99 price,
BB will also deduct an additional $2 off the cost.

At BB, don't forget to also use the "$5 off $19.99 or more" coupon included with a BB Gamer's Gift card.

BTW: In the example listed above, it would be better to tell them to forget the extra 10% of difference off, and instead use that $5 off $19.99 or more coupon. Would make Serious Sam $14.99 (& tax) instead of $17.99 (& tax)

Gamer's Gift cards kept in the videogame section of each BB store.
They are individually wrapped in jewel cases.
On the back of the case liner is a coupon good for $5 off any video game or accessory purchase for $19.99 and up

Take a gift card up to the register with your purchase.
Buy JUST the gift card first.
Have some value put on it (no minimum).

After that transaction is complete...then have the cashier ring up the item(s).
Use the gift card, plus the $5 off coupon.
Pay the difference.

VOILA!!!

HUGE Gamestop circular in the Sunday paper today.

Best deal = Trade-in 2 Xbox games, choose Splinter Cell, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, or Mortal Kombat, Deadly Alliance for $9.99

The circular also lists used prices for many of the most popular titles for various systems.
It even lists trade-in values for other titles.

One AWESOME trade-in: Serious Sam garners $18.00 in credit
Serious Sam is only $19.99 at CC.

Here's what I'm thinkin about doing:
Buy it at BB, PM to CC, use $5 off Gamers Gift Card...makes Serious Sam only $14.99 (& tax).
Take Serious Sam to Gamespot. Trade it in for $18 credit (& tax).
If you can do this one more than once, you're making about $4~$5 each time.

Best of all...this is totally legal, since you are trading SS in as a USED game.

I did this right at the counter, cashier didn't care. Walked out the door with Splinter Cell for $32. I was going to get NFL 2K3, but it wasn't in stock

I've done the BB card as well. I bought it, put $5 on it, then left the store and opened it and walked back in 20 seconds later and voila, $5 for free.

Why even leave the store? I have bought the gift card, walked to the back of the line, then used the card and $5 coupon.

Skoorb knows that if the cops got called by a nervous store manager and he happened to get arrested, MrsSkoorb wouldn't put up any bail when she found out he was buying Xbox stuff.

BTW: I've always just done it right there at the same register. Never a problem.
BTW2: But if there was a problem with some asshat manager...I'd just do the walk out/walk back in trick.

Just checked...the Gamestop deals are valid until 1/5/2003

According to Bestbuy.com it is $39.99 (less $5 off coupon). This seems to be the MSRP now as I have seen this price at EB and other stores

I went to Gamestop yesterday, traded in Scary Movie-DVD, Dynasty Warriors 2-PS2 (no need since I have DW3), Top Gear Daredevil-PS2 (bro-in-law gave it to me, he got it free) and Shenmue-DC (hated this game with a passion).
Got $24 credit, only expecting $20.
Found Splinter Cell used -$44.95
Gamestop 10% off used membership card - deduct $4.50
Walked out the door paying $19 and change.

Not really a great deal to some, but to get rid of some games no one in my house plays, it was well worth it.

If you go to Gamestop a lot, $9 gets you the 10% off membership card good for used games at all Gamestops and affilliates (funco, software etc, and so on). Plus a subscription to GameInformer mag they put out. Not a bad deal for those buying a lot of used.
