Too bad most of you blokes are on the East Coast and beyond. I'd join some sessions on a TF2 night with my Spy/Demo/Scout combo, but I'm in Los Angeles and the ping would be too high for me. TF2 is my favorite PC game and play it as often as I can.

Got my Grizzled Veteran badge, dated September 17, 07.

Heh, mine too. I haven't seen any earlier than that. I can't remember but I think that might have been the day it was available for beta access with preorder.

Man oh man how TF2 has changed since then!

Edit: yup!

I just started playing TF2 again many months (years) of hiatus. And of course all these new changes that they have been pushing are new to me. Is there a wiki (don't say Wikipedia because I read it and it's not helpful) or webpage that explains how to play the game? I don't mean run around and click. I mean different strategies and game types. Also, I am seeing stuff I've never seen before like when someone kills me, it says "John is carrying a super gatling gun." WTF? How did John get this weapon? Also, I randomly got some sort of "badge" or something. I went to equip it on my head or body (or some spot like that). I have no idea what it does. What sucks is when I switch to a different character (say from Engineer to Soldier), I have to equip him with the same badge, again. So confused.

Just hit 'M' at the start of around and equip everyone with the badge, then they will have it next time you use that character. Does nothing, it's just pretty.

Looks like the Engi update will be happening soon! :awe:

I've been playing tons more pyro and the compression blast is so much better in every way.

This is why I keep coming back to TF2. Years after the game came out, they release new stuff and release it frequently. Can't wait for the engie update. It's my most played class.

Compression blast is great, but you can't do much with compression blast alone. Used to be that the only way to take out a heavy was to ambush, puff and chop. The chances of that happening now are about 20% if you're good and about 5% if the heavy's better than you.

Although, strictly speaking, pyro is super-buffed for defense with his puffs and sap-removing homewrecker.

If the heavy is remotely competent, you lose. Always have, always will.

The problem is fundamentally that they decided they pyro should be an "Ambush at close range" class, without considering that the heavy is god at close range and the spy wins at ambush.

.....homewrecker de-saps?

Yep, latest update. Homewrecker now removes enemy sappers in ONE hit.

I can't say I'm too pleased. I was really hoping they'd fix it to be more offensive oriented (such as greatly reducing knockback taken to get to sentries easier so you can actually use the hammer's bonus). Turtling in this game is already easy enough (and can frequently lead to stalemates killing much of the fun), giving the Pyro yet another way to hard counter spies seems a bit redundant.
