The real issue is the person behind it, and the potential motives because as much as we'd like to hope lone terrorists are isolated events, there's a remarkable pattern of radicalization even without physical connection or support infrastructure.

By all accounts (so far) they have no knowledge of this guy having direct ties to terror. We may, or may not, learn of any online contacts he had, but we'll never learn the full extent. What was preached back in Tunisia, in a local French Mosque, or what sympathies he carried for attacks on the news.

What we do know is there's a pattern of extremist ideology being carried in by immigrant, by refugee, by modern communications. Today the human condition of Tribalism is flourishing and clashing like never before. Because we've never been more open and vulnerable to those who hate us. And they've never had more direct communications back home.

This is the breakdown of assimilation, and through it, society.
And this is paid for in many innocent lives.

This makes no sense. You don't need an "ISIS membership card" to be a jihadist. MOST terrorists are actually loners and in some way disaffected/disgruntled, lone-wolfs who are only loosely "associated" with ISIS, they don't necessarily get "attack orders" from some central place.

In all seriousness, the guy's name was Mohamed, he was born in Tunis, so we know he was Muslim. He committed a terror attack, he was even heard shouting Allahu Akhbar. Now add those things up...

I've met and worked with muslims too. Some were really nice on the surface, others were abrasive and aggressive about pushing their religion at all times, and some of those "nice" ones showed their on/off switch if the topic ever came up about someone disrespecting islam - their calm demeanor turned to fury in an instant.

Of course, my evidence (as is yours) is anecdotal... but we can see countless examples of the same out there. Millions.

I'll make it very clear, the islamic system contains some elements that are very bad and completely incompatible with our western lives. These problems need to be spelled out clearly and addressed by their own members for there to be any lasting peace among themselves and the rest of the world. Not merely ISIS, much of islam itself.

Do you accept the premise that westernized Muslims hold significantly different beliefs than Muslims in the Middle East and recent immigrants from the failed Islamic countries?

It should not be lost on you that this Muslim terrorist fits the mold (a recent immigrant from a shit hole region or the child of a recent immigrant). Also I don't believe one of the terrorists had friends outside of the Muslim community.
