I am really enjoying Fallout 3 ATM. after hearing its too easy i got the game and the first setting i changed was gameplay = Hard. its challanging but not frustratingly impossible.

spore is definately a disappointment. also remember that the year isnt over, i havent played Sacred 2 yet so i could still be even more disappointed!

Warhammer Online, game could've been better. Most of the games I bought this year didn't come out this year.

I was excited for this year, thinking a lot of good games were going to come out. That said, I've only played Gears of War (since it was cheap). IT was enjoyable. I have Fallout 3 but no time to play it yet.

I would say Spore. I wanted a casual game and from most of the reviews, it seems to be disappointment.

Wow, so many far cry 2 haters. Spore by far tops my list, along with fallout 3 (seriously) and COD5 (again, seriously).

On the console side, I'd have to say golden axe beast rider is the biggest POS I have ever played.

I've only played a handful of games this year. First place goes to Age of Conan by far. Spore just wasn't on my radar.

Also, I nominate the biggest failure of this generation of gaming to be game endings. Developers just don't know how to end games anymore.

Crysis. Hands down. Major hype, craptacular performance, horribly inefficient graphics engine, and WAYYYYY not "groundbreaking" in either genre or graphics/technology.

To me, "biggest disappointment" is a lot like "Most Valuable Player"; it really depends on the definition you're using of 'valuable', or in this case 'biggest'. To that end, I offer this:

• If your definition of 'biggest' is "affected the most people" then the winner is Spore. It's been a while since a mainstream game was so over-hyped.
  
  If your definition of 'biggest' is "missed the target by the widest margin" then the HANDS DOWN, UNCONTESTED winner is Age of Conan. It was buggy, unplayable, never should have left Beta, made deceptive promises on its box, didn't ship with the majority of promised features, patches don't address serious issues, the EULA and TOS allow Funcom to ban you from the game for saying anything negative, community and forums were atrocious (mainly due to unbalanced moderation), and the list goes on. It hasn't been a good year for MMO's with Warhammer not meeting expectations, Tabula Rasa announcing shutdown, Lich King being just MOTS, and Hellgate lasting just a matter of weeks, but nothing in PC gaming or gaming in general comes closing to matching the utter fail that is Age of Conan.

I wasnt expecting too much so I guess I cant be dissapointed.

I suppose Fallout 3 gets my vote because I was expecting a little something.
Let me rephrase that. I was hoping for something. But when I remembered Black Isle was gone and it was going to be made by a completely different group of people I let my hopes go back down again.

Incidentally I dont hate the game and if its anything like Oblivion was I will probably keep going back to it once in a while despite all the glaring flaws. Something about the massive, dark world just keeps me playing. And if we get some kickass user mods & official expansions it will probably grow in popularity as time goes on (like Oblivion).

Warhammer : Age of Reckoning

Years of waiting and browsing fansites for scraps of information; canceled before the free month ended. Terribly disappointing.

Age of Conan. Such potential, which will go unrealized as I predict it will go the way of Tabula Rasa. Even the obvious things were unfinished: tons of class bugs, no itemization so we all ran around looking exactly the same, woefully broken instances and raid content. Tools available for grouping broken (even the stupid OOC chat channel). The list goes on and on and on. I even upgraded my PC for this stinkbomb. Should have known better. I wanted to like this game because Robert Howard's setting was a breath of fresh air in the fantasy realm.

Far Cry 2. Loved the first game, this one was so boring, way too much driving. Had to grind it out to finish the game for the sake of finishing it.

VATS, awkward movement around the map/objects, boring missions (I am still looking for damn rats to try some POS green stick on), finding some beds to sleep on (you can't sleep on the ground of course), management of myriad of inventory items etc. The whole game feels like it came from 2005 with 2008 graphics mods. I started as the nicest person with high expectations, now I am a pissed off assassin who is bored out of his wits. I _wanted_ to like this game so much ...

Moira tells you to go to Tepid sewers to find rats. And there are mods on fallout3nexus for inventory organization.

Crysis and UT3 came out in fall 2007.

Spore for the most disappointing. Even if it was a great game, the amount of hype it received would still make it disappointing.
