Biggest/most comfortable keyboard on today's netbooks?

I was thinking about picking up a netbook for taking notes in class (I brought a desktop to school), but when I tried them at microcenter they all felt uncomfortably small..

I was wondering which of the netbooks has the biggest keyboard? Or if not a netbook, recommendations for a notebook with less than a ~13" screen would be okay too, but it needs to be cheap! My budget is probably < $400. Good battery life is a plus, but not completely necessary.

considering all those netbooks are basically the same size, there really isnt such thing as 'biggest'

From what I've heard the HP's is the biggest, however it has the VIA CPU which is kinda a turn off for me. I also believe the HP is one of the more expensive ones.

Yes, HP is like 97% full size. Most of the others are like 85-92. It's also expensive like OC said.

The MSI Wind and 1000H (what I am typing on now) both have pretty decent keyboards that are big enough to touch type. You're gonna need a 10'' or larger in order to get that full size feel.

The 1000H looks really attractive! I just need to find a great deal on it now =)

Is the Atom CPU good? I don't really know much about SFF processors. I'm assuming it will handle everyday things like surfing the web and MS office use with no problems. I wonder if it can play older games...

Wow - is that a price mistake? They are supposed to be $600. The 901 is $500 alone. I have a 10 cell right now for my original 701.. if the battery works on the 1000H I'm gonna snag one.

They have a ton of them on Mwave, and Mwave has a ton of them on Ebay at the same price, Mwaves outlet seller has them at that price on e-bay as well. I do not think it is a mistake. I think they are clearing the way for the Asus N10, and for Dual Core Atoms. I think the bottom will drop out on the Atom 1.6ghz Netbook prices pretty soon.

Ahhhh nice, using ebay even with only 8% live cashback wipes out the tax for those in CA. Nice deal, but I can't find any information on whether a 701 battery works on it.

Do what I did. Get a Dell X300 off of ebay that has some of the remainder of the warranty. Its still less than 1" thick and with the standard battery and weighs ~3 pounds. It has a 12" screen and is powered by a Pentium M processor which is a bit dated but still quite up to the task of taking notes and whatnot. The keyboard is a bit small and takes some getting used to but once you get used to it, you can type at full speed pretty easily.

Those Dell X300's will take up to 2.0ghz Dothan Core @ 400FSB with the latest BIOS. However there is a 1gb cap on the memory, and it's DDR1 memory ... oh and IDE HDD.

With the price dropping so fast I'd hesitate to buy from mwave now. Costco has these at the same price, and you'll get the 3 month return policy in case the price does drop.

i play WC3 with full settings on all the time. A lot of people have been pleasantly surprised by how snappy the laptop feels. The reason the 1000H is getting cleared out is because ASUS is rereleasing the 1000H with a 160GB HD in about a month. Definitely not a big deal considering the $100 price difference, especially since you can swap out the hd for a 320 GB one for about $70 by removing the back plate. One thing I love about the 1000H is that the laptop is designed for easy access to the RAM and HD, and I plan on putting in an SSD once prices come down.

Yeah ease of upgrade was a big factor in my decision for the 1000h. Wind and AAO both fall short in that category, I think. Mine will be here tomorrow - can't wait

Got my eeepc 1000h about 1.5 hrs ago. So far the only problem I have had is with the oft complained about right shift key positioning. I know folks have remapped it to the up arrow - which, incidentally, is what I always instinctively hit on this keyboard - but I think I'm going to stick it out and try to learn this keyboard and get used to it. Aside from that - the brick is small, but REALLY hot for this short amount of time.

Currently the Samsung netbooks looks nice, and seems to have a nice big keyboard.
