That went pretty low. I thought those stopped earlier than that... actually looks like it went all the way down. I thought those had some kind of safety?

I'd assume you can remove the safety bars or w/e they use.

First mistake: using a squat machine.
Second mistake: not setting the safety bar.
Third mistake: thinking that you can lift that much weight just to impress your friends.

That kid could max out doing 250 on squats at best. He's not that big of a guy. :/

Size is doesn't always reflect power. Plus, 250 is damn good, assuming it's a squat (below parallel) and in pounds.

Some people like to pile on the weight, and then never get anywhere close to parallel. That's not a squat, that's just sort of bending your knees...

Kid in video deserved what he got for being a complete idiot.

Quarter squats have their place, doing heavier weights with less motion can be really beneficial as well. You're still recruiting large amounts of muscle fibers in order to perform the motion, and in the case of squats you can do a whole lot more weight.

Classic case of a kid who doesn't know/accept his limits trying to show off. Dumbass. If he survived that without serious injury, he'll respect the equipment a bit more when he enters a gym, half from fear of injury and half from fear of humiliation.

Tell me what those purposes are.

Quarter squats have their place if your physiology is freakish in that you need to work the top of your squat to catch up to the bottom - which basically never happens. If you, say, are a competative powerlifter that works in lifting gear, you might argue that the gear normally helps the bottom of the squat - so a partial squat lets you hit the top harder. However, powerlifters don't train like that...they use chains and bands to increase resistence as you go up.

However, I'm guessing that's not what you meant and that you don't know what you're talking about. Explain to me the impact on the knee of a proper squat vs a quarter squat. Or about which muscles are activated where along the squat.

(Do this without using the internet)

I'm waiting....

In other words, you don't have an answer. Obviously I meant give me answers to those questions without looking them up online.

but wretched my right knee, no longer can work out my legs like that... stuck to a cycle anymore damage = knee surgery

(5' 10'' @ 145 pounds)
Current goal is 20 dead hang pull ups !
