1. That is not a "Squat machine" it's a Smith machine.
2. Deeko, ATG squats have their place if you are looking for overall development but you won't see them performed at ANY competition and if you EVER lift real heavy you'll know that the last few inches before you lock out are where your hamstrings and glutes don't support the weight and it's held completely by the quads.
Try this for fun, get into a squat rack and put the safety bars five inches below your shoulders, now put on some weight on the bar, bend your knees and try to hold it there, it's actually harder to pause there than in any other place during a squat.
Yes, short and medium range squats DO have their place, especially if you are training for power. (it's also a quick fix to build up your muscle ligaments so that you can perform a proper squat).
