After all, I am a legal immigrant.

duh.

Your parents came here after 1921? If not you are neither legal or illegal, just a migrant.

wrong.. both my mother and I are legal immigrants to the US. In other words, we came here through one of the legal methods of entry; as opposed to coming here through the illegal methods.

1) We did it the right way in 1975. (ie. correct, legal, rightful, good, etc) = legal immigrants, or "legal resident alien status" if you wish to get specific.

2) There are over 12 million who came here the wrong way. (ie. criminal, illegal, wrongful, incorrect, bad, etc) = illegal immigrants or illegal aliens, aka CRIMINALS!

see how that works?

And what difference do you think it makes if you think it is illegal?

You going to call in the gestapoo to remove 12 million people and their famlies?
All this crying over spilled milk, what do you expect people to do? You would do the same thing.

You are pissing in the wind stirring the race pot becasue you think you can feel outraged over a pointless cause, tell us where your outrage is coming from.

All you are doing is making an ass out of america acting like a spoiled child because you were lucky enough to get citizenship on a technicality, and you condemn others for being illegal in their historic homeland over a technicality, this is america a country of immigrants wake up and lose the attitude, you are no better, at least these people worked to come here to seek freedom and oppurtunity instead of getting a handout.

Life is not fair and rules are made to be broken, suck it up, they have just as many valid reasons to be here as you do, if not a few more since their famlies were here.
If you are going to be outraged over something get outraged over injustices this administration is putting forth upon us, join the fight to keep this country free, or join the crowd making this place a sh1thole that soon noone would want to immigrate to anyway. -Your choice.

Im curious as to what other major laws you feel are arbitrary? Are you so elitist you feel our justice system is to be taken with a grain of salt? You remind me of so much of the splinter groups in this country who hole themselves up in their own fortresses, picking and choosing what laws THEY think they should follow. It is this kind of thinking that is tearing America apart.

Now work on the war part and you are on your way to being a rational american.
you're so full of sh*t... on day 2 of this issue I posted the same solution and hased it out with several other folks to the points I just showed you. none of that matter though because you have failed to pay attention, and you've never once retracted all of your slanderous attacks on everyone here.

I (WE) are not racists, but that seems to be what you fall back on every single time we OWN you in debate.

g'day steeple, and I really hope you wake the hell up soon.

BS, you paid some lip sevice and went right back to ranting about them being criminals that should be deported when another anti-immigration wingnut came in and puffed on your e-peen.
again, total and complete bullsh*t except for the part about them being criminals... THEY ARE CRIMINALS, YOU DOLT!

You mean like this administration pissing all over the laws? Yeah it happens a lot nowdays.

Unjust rules are to be broken, civil rights protests are almost always sparked by someone having to break a unjust law in some way, heck its how our country is founded. Lay off the cops tv shows, else you will wind us all up in a police state as you happily cheer on "the law", In other words, grow a pair.

You people are so hilarious, let me guess, you would turn in george washington for being a terrorist and report runaway slaves too?

When it comes to peoples well-being the law takes backseat to peoples freedoms and what america is about. Sorry you hate freedom and oppurtunity.

If your wife/husband was dire sick you would not question speeding to the hospital to save their lives, the law is not set in stone unless you are trying to be irrational to defend a undefensible point. Life is not black and white. Sometimes for the sake of what is right we have to be realistic.

you are basicly trying to justify the crime of entering our country any damn way you can, and im sorry, that is simply not just, right, feasible, or sane; in this day and age.

The 21st and your concept of law being ironclad is not only shortsighted it is plain reckless to our future.

Cops, judges and jurys are known to be wrong often every single day.

Laws come and go, but a persons well-being and freedoms should always be the focus of changing times.

Who said anything about removing a border, it would be nice if we could dissolve all borders but it is as much of a idealistic fantasy as deporting the mexicans. Not going to happen. I have always said we should document who comes in and provide background checks and medical screenings.

It is you who have changed your view but keep thinking it is ok to rub it in the mexicans face what they had to go through to be here, they know, trust me a lot of them die to get across that border across the desert, do you think they need some twit rubbing it in their faces with as many problems as we have with racism here in the states already? You are an antagonist, not helping but making the situation worse.

umm, ok, that would involve them arriving through strictly legal means. so shouldnt/wouldnt avoiding such screenings and checks be wrong; or more accurately, criminal?

You are pissing in the wind again bringing up something that is already done, get over it and lets speak of the future. Who really cares? Obviously you do as you keep harping on how terribly illegal they are, which makes people wonder what your beef is with them.

Are you so hopped up on hate and full of yourself that you want a sorry letter from millions of mexicans delivered to your door? Get over yourself.

If your going to be like that might as well pack it and and go back to europe, this whole continent is stolen back and forth a few times, big deal.

I have no beef with any of them, beyond their crime of illegal entry. If all 12million of them arrived legally, i'd greet them with open arms.

If you actually took the time to read the solution I posted, Step 5 clearly shows the method by which those already here would be grandfathered in. It's a stricter form of amnesty, or a guest worker program if you will. But, doing ONLY step 5 will not be sufficent in solving the problem of illegal immigration.

All 5 steps must be accomplished in order for us to move forward in a secure and legal fashion. I suggest you go back through my plan and attempt to find a flaw. Something tells me that if you actually paid attention, you'd see that I dont have ANY of this "hate" you keep slandering me with.

you are reverting back to calling me a racist, and that's simply ridiculous at this point. I'm starting to think that you have confused yourself...

Noone cares about your lame anger over something that has already happened, like I said, suck it up, this whole continent is covered with blood, at least the mexicans came peacefully to work, not massacre your children and burn your villages. *yawn* Please, save the outraged conservative victim game, it makes americans look like a hypocrites.

The world is not ignorant of our own skeletons in the closet.

borders don't exist, they only exist on a map. and when you can't read a map, it's kinda hard to see where the border is.

I don't think the whole immigration thing with mexico is racist. we just happen to share a big border with them. I'd feel the same way if it was canadians flocking over illegally, but that doesn't seem to be a problem.

lol.. you're lost steeple.

CHALLENGE: find a flaw in the following, and PLEASE point out any/all sections that indicate some sort of racism, hatred, or animosity:

---
STEP 1: physically lock down all border crossing locations totally and ocmpletely (national guard, walls, double-fences, movement detectors, etc). This includes the entire borders with Mexico and Canada; and all other known ports of illegal entry. This is the most crucial step in the entire process. If not done correctly or effectively, then the rest is absolutely pointless, and we may as well give up now.

STEP 2: Replace the SS Card with a National ID System. Only legal residents could obtain the new digitized card. The uses and benefits of such a card are endless...

STEP 3: Spend $$ and time working with the primary countries of origin for most of our illegals and make the legal methods of entry more efficient! this will allow more legal immigration and make running, swimming, and jumping for it less attractive.

STEP 4: Crack down on any/all employers who try to employ illegal immmigrants. Fine them heavily, jail them, etc. the new National ID card will make enforcement much easier, as forging should/would be nare impossible if the card is done right.

STEP 5: Take the existing 12-20 million illegals and transfer them over to an alternate legal method of obtaining citizenship. In order to remain in the USA, they would pay some fines and/or extra taxes during the duration, etc. the entire goal for them, and every other immigrant, would be to obtain the golden National ID at the end of the tunnel. (thus encouraging them to come out of the woodwork). This solution eliminates the need for mass deportation, and thanks to STEP 1 above, it limits the number of illegals down the road.
---

I triple-dog dare you...

I have no problem with your plan for the most part, its the silly indignation to point out illegal (and even bold it) that is obvious you have issues you are not willing to let go of.

The eliminates the need for mass deportation part is dumb too, you still have not caught on that this is not even part of the issue, it's fantasyland to fuel your hate and some lame attempt at revenge for what I have no clue.

you lock down the borders crossing, then they go thru tunnels under ground. National ID system will take lots of time, unless the federal gov't wants to foot the entire bill, which we know is never gonna happen. many states cannot afford it on their own, and if you can't get all the states on board then you got a busted system.

Steep how about the very valid point that Marin County brought up: "The presence of so many illegals is depressing wages for many citizens, and I don't like it."

I don't see racism there. It's a real problem when you have such a tight labor market as exists in this country since our manufacturing has been hollowed out and people continue to cut thier own damn throats buying imported goods.

I'm sorta mixed up on this issue - property values will increase. God made a fixed amount of land and unlimited people. There is the human element and freedom element which is central to me in that you have the ability to improve your situation. Mexico is a cast system a brutal regime where only elites have a shot at middle class.

OTOH it's depressing wages for all american workers. I say all becuase there is an trend for those displaced to get more educated and now compete for jobs with people they ordinarly would not have competed with in the past. Like Contruction worker to computer programmer.

Thoughts?

And for the record I know there is a certain tindge of race here but the economic elements can not be overlooked either.

Cesar Chavez is the answer to this, as he was the american hero who solved this same issue a few decades ago with the mexicans. (granted the righties will be upset as this will pee all over the republicans parade as it does not include using them a slave sub-class anymore.) But that is good. It would be great to see mexicans prosper and thus become in time regular americans, The economy grows and the corps will have to stop screwing those who they used as slaves and start treating them right.

OTOH it's depressing wages for all americans. I say all becuase there is an trend for those displaced to get more educated and now compete for jobs with people they ordinarly would have competed with in the past. Like Contruction worker to computer programmer.

Thoughts?

And for the record I know there is a certain tindge of race here but the economic elements can not be overlooked either.

Cesar Chavez is the answer to this, as he was the hero who solved this same issue a few decades ago. (granted it will pee all over the republicans parade as it does not include using them a slave sub-class anymore.) But that is good. It would be great to see mexicans prosper, The economy grow and corps to get screwed who did so much evil to these people. Win-win.

I'm all ears.

Please explain. Mechanics?

Very basic overview in link, I suggest next library trip to pick up a book or two on him it is easy to find stuff as he is one of the great american heros and a very famous figure in the west.

He had a simple plan, get them organized and you don't need the huge government overhead and bureaucracies, also, organized mexicans will be able to pinpoint who is hiring the undocumented and lowering their wages, its as simple as giving the power back to the people to protect themselves from being taken advantage of.

Notice when Chavezs lessons were lost by greedy profit driven union busting corporations the undocumented workers started FLOODING back in, Chavez knew it would and said so often.

The mexican workers have proven that in some cases you can't beat organized labor, period, free market will want undocumented workers for pure profit every time.

Chavez was amazing, hit the library, and you will see how we got into this mess by once again tossing away a famous part of our american heritige fought for by C.Chavez.

Here is a bit more about him centered around the Presidential Medal of Freedom he recieved a year after his death.

I will. But you still have not said anything that increased numbers is good for average american. Also I think we are moving right. Unions and labor orgs are weaker than ever, people seem satisfied with thier lot or maybe just powerless to change it, so any change seems wishful at best. My feeling is we are moving to a plotical and labor system like mexico which is the opposite direction you may be wishing for.

I guess that you think it's great that we are coming millions of people closer to a 3rd world country all the time?
