I don't mean to thread crap, but a couple of hooks works as well (as long as you don't have very high ceilings), looks less conspicuous, and costs just a couple of dollars. Just FYI.

I had the type of "J" hooks that screw into the ceiling beams and hold the bike up-side down. I finally got tired of hitting myself on the head everytime I went into the garage, (We are a family of 6) that I visited my local HD and picked a couple Crawford Flip Up Storage Rack. They cost about $5.00 each and allow me to mount the bikes onto the wall studs.

Yeah, it happens. I had my bike hanging by the rear wheel from the vaulted ceiling center beam in my old apartment. The fork began leaking oil onto the apartment's end table after a few month living there.Originally posted by: Souka
FYI for those who might hang their bike upside down.....
If ya got suspension, you might think again.
Any decent suspension will use oil to damen, but they're designed to upright.
Turn your bike upside down and it might leak....or worse yet, leak on your shinny car and eat the paint.
My $.02 of caution....and experience of a couple of frients of mine.
