Bill wanted to personally deliver the check.

Dumb thing to do. You don't socialize with people connected to an active investigation. It gives the appearance that the AG has a personal connection to Hillary. That's strong cause for recusal.

Might be a very smart thing to do. If the Clinton's own the person at the DOJ that will take Lynch's place. Hell, we've got the State Department saying they want to delay the release of the emails tied to the foundation for 27 months. A lot of this is the political class running interference for the political class.

Lots of fun theories to throw around.

Yep. If this had been an AG from an R admin, the media would be in a head-spinning rage, not to mention several of the usual suspects on here. And the rest of your post is spot on.

Exactly. If the Pubbies look cleaner, look more closely - they are just a bit more circumspect because they have a hostile mainstream press corp. Otherwise they are two sides of the same coin. And the faces of that coin are rapidly evolving to the point that they no longer care what is the perception.

He's gotta get as much tang as he can before the big one takes him out.

Also, is it just me, or is Bill Clinton looking pretty rough these days?

I know he had heart surgery awhile back, and that weight used to be an issue, but I saw him on TV yesterday and I think my exact words to the wife were "Damn, he needs to downshift a gear or two." Just looks so pale and shaky. Christie or Huckabee could probably beat him up some stairs no problem at this point.

He still has a lot going on himself with various foundations and charity work, I understand that, but part of me wonders maybe there's something to that whole 'spouses affecting each other's behavior and sensitivities' concept. He almost looks like he's the one running for office while under FBI investigation.

Saw an NPR blirb on FB last night. Didn't have time to read the whole story, but it definitely looks like even some Ds aren't happy with the AG. Won't stop the apologists on here though.

NBC News did run a story about this earlier tonight and even some Democrats were not happy about the meeting. Something about perception even if both of them were not talking about the email probe.

And even if she didn't immediately make a move for the Clintons the very next day...

I blame Bubba the most for putting her on the spot.

BTW - Breaking News LL has just sort of self recused by saying she will accept the recommendation of the FBI director.

So lets get this straight.
Bill Clinton orchestrated a private meeting with the US attorney general supposedly to find out what poop they have on his wife?
And I have this bridge for sale in London. Just asking five thousand cash, and its yours.
Call me.

Tell ya what. Why don't you, Jhhnn, nickqt, and ivw fight it out to see who can stick their tongue the furthest up Hillary's bung-hole and get back to us as to who won. Maybe you can drag a few others on here into your little contest and make a day of it.

Meanwhile, the rest of us who are being understandably skeptical, and not denying the sins of that other party (you know, the ones with the R after their name) can have a mature discussion, which btw even some Ds in DC are having.

Not to mention that editing it after the fact is just plain stupid. It's like a kid wiping the crumbs off of his face and saying, 'what cookie, mom?'

Yes lets edit public records because she is so nonsense, except on matters of Political correctness, and you know the simple fact that her boss likes to whitewash Muslim terrorism.

ISIS will take credit with or without 'official' reports.

-Bill did an intern in the oval office, and lied about it. Like I said before, to him this meeting was private.

Bumping into each other in the airport and saying a quick 'hi' in passing is a far cry from hanging out in her plane for 30 minutes. But in your scenario, the answer would be a flat out 'no issue'.

Lets pretend that she and he walked past each other at the airport and had no foreknowledge of there meeting and that the only thing they did in passing was say "hi" -- would that require her to recuse herself? Would the R's demand some investigation if all that happened was for them to pass each other in the terminal?

Baring some revelation such as a video or audio recording that suggests something nefarious she should not have to recuse herself to satiate the insatiable need to accuse of the right...

There are things that might suggest something beyond "high, how ya doin" but without something more I'd suggest moving along...

No shit, Sherlock. That's been obvious from the start. The rest is gossip & innuendo.

Its always funny to me to see people repeat what the right wing "blogosphere" are saying that doesn't appear in any other realm.

Ahh, more from the unwavering faction... Look at virtually every media outlet's stories on the issue. Don't lose any sleep over it, you haven't seen anything yet.

On this one I agree with you. Another reason the Clintons bug the crap out of me.
Worst of a bad bunch with regards to arrogance and corruption. Could be worse though - we could be looking at President Cruz.

Man, the quality of the bright side has become severely tarnished.

Well, unless she is indicted, it is all just a bunch of unsubstantiated rumors from a vast GOP conspiracy.
But even if she is indicted, it doesn't mean anything. You can indict a ham sandwich!
Even then, if she goes to trial, she is innocent until proven guilty.
If she is found guilty, she still gets appeals, so it proves nothing.
If she loses her appeals, it is just because the system is rigged against her.

Yeah, multiple sources are all running the same story. The story also says that FBI is expected to make recommendation within the next few weeks. Would it not be crazy if they recommend indictment just before the Democratic Convention? And would it not be crazy if Bernie becomes the nominee because of it? This cycle is truly mind boggling.

Of course, the realist in me says the FBI is not going to recommend indictment and business will go on as usual.

I have always thought it would be stopped at the AG level not the FBI so this is significant.

Yep.

I don't get how people can ignore the fact that she is being investigated by BOTH the FBI and the DOJ. Those organizations don't conduct investigations just for the hell of it.

I just don't understand the irrational partisianship.

So are you saying that the DOJ and FBI never investigates something where the subject of said investigation is not guilty?

This has been far from obvious from the start. It's entirely possible that the FBI recommends felony charges and Lynch just says no. Look at Petraeus and Holder. Felony recommended by FBI, pleads guilty to misdemeanor, case closed.
