EDIT: It's really the snarky, condescending way he does it. If he really wanted to change minds and wake people up to reality he wouldn't be so insulting towards them. All he's doing is making religious folks close their minds and stick to their ancient beliefs that much more..."la la la la *fingers in ears* I'm not listening to you Devil!" But as long as he gets paid.
Maybe the people with common sense will shut up and move on when the idiots who believe in that biblical bullshit have the courtesy to do the same. Until then, having a few spokespeople for intelligence and common sense is not such a bad thing.

At some point, you have to know where to draw the line, though, yes, "tact" can certainly be employed....
I don't care if you are Atheist, Muslim, Jewish, Catholic, Christian, Buddhist or whatever. You should learn to accept that people have different beliefs and be compassionate to all. People like this are pathetic. Making fun of them gets you nowhere. No one knows the truth and being kind to your fellow man is the best option.

Honestly, what's the point? It's pretty sad and pathetic he has to resort to such low levels in an attempt to get a laugh. Worse yet, if he feels this makes him on some different level than the people he is ridiculing. He's doing nothing more than persecuting others for their beliefs. He's no better than anyone he is talking down about and he's even a bigger piece of shit in most cases. If you're actually mad at what others believe, which is what he insinuates, WTF? Who the hell cares what someone worships?
The best thing is he has to pause between jokes to allow the sheep to know when to laugh and have them notice the applause sign. Heck, half of the time, only a few people are laughing and he has to laugh at his own joke to get others to laugh.
