OK, I haven't really counted, but they're everywhere. If I turn over a patio paver probably 20 will scurry around. Sticking a shovel in the ground might turn up at least that many. They don't seem to be aggressive, they always scurry away, not towards me.
I can't figure out what they are, or if they might bite or sting, or how to control them.
Most are small, less than half an inch, but some are larger. Sort of hairy, but not really. No colored markings.
