Bios automatically resets randomly?

I have a ECS K7S5A (not the best board, got it from Fry's as part of the AMD 2000+/ECS Combo for 99$). This was a new board, not refurbished, but for some reason it'll randomly clear the CMOS so everything resets back to default (time, bus speed, everything). What could possibly be the problem?

Try replacing the CMOS battery.

If it's a standard coin cell, you can pick them up for a couple of bucks at (of all places) Home Depot. Otherwise it could range anywhere from $4 to $15, depending on the exact type.

ya, I second the CMOS battery. Chances are you have a low/close to dead battery in there.

Known issue with this motherboard. Very common. not nec. a bad battery. I'll find you some info.
