bios disaster

I have a chaintech vnf3 motherboard. I've been using the bios that came wiht the board and did a little overclocking (a64 3000 @2.25). I decided to flash the bios to the 7/29 version. After I did this, I was no longer able to overclock the board. When I did the boot screen would just hang, so I went into the bios and loaded the fail/safe default. I like the idea of overclocking so I decided to go back to the previous bio. I went to the chaintech site and downloaded the 3/8 bios. I flashed it using winflash and restarted the computer. Now, the computer gets stuck at the first load screen: specificially at the line

Memory Frequency is:

I can't do anything. I can't enter the bios. I can't load with a cd..So is my mobo dead? I called chaintech but they aren't open today.

cliffnotes: I flashed the bios and now the computer won't boot.

look in your manual for directions

Thanks for the reply. How do I clear my CMOS? The manual doesn't say much except to call their office.

Alright, I reset the CMOS. The boot will go passed the Memory Frequency but now it says

CMOS checksum error - defaults loaded

Not sure what to do now.

I let the computer sit for 5mins and now it boots right up. I dunno. Computers will always boggle my mind.

You are going on track now. Just hit F2 button or F1 that will take you into the bios set up.

All you should have to do now is go into the bios, load optimized defaults, change any other prefrences to your liking and save.

Most of the time whenever you flash your bios, you want to reload the defaults.

Thanks for all of the replys. I got my computer working. My problem now is that the 7/29 bios doesn't allow me to OC as high as the stock bios. I'm not exactly sure why. All I know is that before, I was able to run my a64 3000 @2.25 with my ram running 1:1. Now, I can't raise my FSB above 205. If I do, the computer will not boot. It stops at the first screen. O'h well it's one thing after another, but I know I'll resolve the issue in the end.

When the new BIOS was installed, did you go back and restore your memory and core voltage tweaks for OC'ing? I'm not sure it would retain those.

When I was OCing on the original bios I didnt' tweak the memory or core voltages. All I did was raise the FSB.
